Petoskey’s Joey Garber weathers ‘dark days,’ earns PGA Tour card

August 21, 2018 detroitnews Leave a Comment

Tony Paul The Detroit News Published 5:26 p.m. UTC Aug 21, 2018 It was in late May, and Joey Garber had just arrived in Raleigh, N.C., for yet another golf tournament, his fourth in as many weeks. He hadn't been playing particularly well, making just three cuts in his previous six starts, and earning barely $6,000, total, in the other three, with well-down-the-leaderboard finishes. Before that next tournament began, Garber found himself tooling around at his buddy Ben Kohles' place. Garber was staying there for the week, commonplace for the golf grinders still searching for that big break — any way to save on hotel fares, you do it. Anyway, one day, he casually picked up one of Kohles' putters. It was a Titleist Scotty Cameron, and for whatever reason, it felt good. So Garber borrowed it for the week. Let's just say, he's still "borrowing" it. "It felt awesome, and sometimes, it's one of those funny things you need. I kind of made everything all week," said Garber, a … [Read more...] about Petoskey’s Joey Garber weathers ‘dark days,’ earns PGA Tour card

PUBLISHED: 00:08 30 June 2018 | UPDATED: 00:08 30 June 2018 Ewan Chester talks to our former Norwich City correspondents Chris Lakey and David Cuffley, following his initial arrival as Norwich City's chief scout. Picture: Archant Ewan Chester had two spells heading up Norwich City’s scouting network. He spoke to Michael Bailey about some of the deals – that both came off and fell away. It would not have taken much World Cup watching this summer to come across a former Norwich City transfer target. That’s what three consecutive years in the Premier League can do for you. Ola Toivonen and Toby Alderweireld to name two; it was never your pie in the sky summer speculation. Not that my chat with former Canaries chief scout Ewan Chester started there – although I was sure the talk will soon come round to his second spell at Carrow Road. The one where Chris Hughton’s switch from Birmingham took Chester back to City with the hope of kicking the club on in the … [Read more...] about Former City transfers chief opens up on past recruitment, relegation and what now lies ahead

Hounslow recycling centre to hold open day

June 13, 2018 getwestlondon Leave a Comment

One of West London’s largest state-of-the-art recycling facilities will be opening its doors to the public Saturday, June 23. Hounslow Council is holding an open day at its £22million Materials Handling Facility in Southall Lane which was opened in November last year. The centre was built by the council with the aim of increasing the amount of waste that gets recycled to at least 50 per cent. It is run by the council’s own company, Recycle 360 Ltd, which is a subsidiary of Lampton 360 Ltd. Eventually it is hoped that extra space at the centre can be leased out to other recycling providers so the council can make money to reinvest into its services. It also plans to offer recycling facilities to other local authorities and sell sorted materials at a profit. Recycle 360 collects all of Hounslow’s household recycling and waste, with the recyclable materials then transferred mainly to the Southall Lane site. Materials are separated at the kerbside, with plastics … [Read more...] about Hounslow recycling centre to hold open day

SIX THINGS: 3 – City’s transfer clock is already busily ticking

May 13, 2018 edp24 Leave a Comment

Ivo Pinto and Nelson Oliveira could both find themselves leaving Norwich City if the right suitors come along this summer. Picture: Paul Chesterton/Focus Images ©Focus Images Limited www.focus-images.co.uk +447814 482222 Continuing our Six Things Summer Special, we look at Norwich City’s summer switches. Three years ago, play-off success delayed their summer work – but the Canaries will have to work even quicker this time around, MICHAEL BAILEY believes. Nothing puts on the pressure like a deadline looming – and especially when so many facets of a situation are reliant on others. Be it other clubs, managers, players, agents and directors, Norwich City’s forthcoming transfer window work will be a puzzle to solve while people walk off and hide all the pieces. At least City’s chief rebuilders – specifically head coach Daniel Farke and primarily sporting director Stuart Webber – won’t have as long to fret over completing the task; … [Read more...] about SIX THINGS: 3 – City’s transfer clock is already busily ticking
