Williams will trial an updated aerodynamics package for the FW44 at the British Grand Prix, but only on Alex Albon’s car. After three successive seasons at the bottom of the log, Williams worked their way up to seventh in last year’s championship, the team scoring 23 points which was their biggest points haul since 2017. The team had hoped to build on that this season, benefitting from the new technical regulations with the all-new cars. Instead, Williams have once again found themselves last in the standings with just three points on the board . However, unlike many of their rivals, the Grove team has yet to introduce a major update – that coming at this weekend’s British Grand Prix. Running new bodywork and a new floor with the aim of increasing the car’s downforce, it is being speculated that the upgrade will follow the path that Red Bull have taken with their championship-leading RB18. Williams has a big update to introduce this weekend (I hear along the same … [Read more...] about Albon to get his hands on big Williams upgrade

Albon: Not clear how to fix F1 weaknesses on Williams car
Listen to this article Williams has struggled to compete with the rest of the midfield on a regular basis so far this season, leaving it at the foot of the constructors’ championship ahead of this weekend’s British Grand Prix. Albon has scored all three of Williams’ points this year, finishing 10th in Australia and ninth in Miami after capitalising on opportunities that fell the team’s way. Teammate Nicholas Latifi recently opened up about the “fundamental” struggles he has faced with the Williams FW44, which is yet to receive a sizeable update so far this season. A package is planned for the coming races and could arrive as early at this week at Silverstone, but Albon felt it was not clear how to address to struggles the team is currently facing. “Everyone has been upgrading, and we haven’t had a major upgrade in a while, so there’s that side to it,” Albon said. “Balance-wise, we have weaknesses in the car, which aren’t so clear to be able to fix with what we’ve … [Read more...] about Albon: Not clear how to fix F1 weaknesses on Williams car
‘These deaths are on Biden’: Gov. Abbott, Texas leaders react to 50 migrants found dead
As many as 50 people are dead after an abandoned tractor-trailer was found in southwest San Antonio Monday evening, and more than a dozen were rushed to nearby hospitals. They are all believed to be undocumented migrants. "This is nothing short of a horrific tragedy," San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg told reporters. "Our job is not to ask why. Our job is to ask how we can help. That's why you're seeing medical assistance. As far as the federal investigation goes, that's in the hands of the feds. I'm sure there will be more questions and hopefully some answers as we move forward." On Twitter, Nirenberg posted: "Migrants seeking asylum should always be treated as a humanitarian crisis, but this evening we're facing a horrific human tragedy." He also urged Texans to "think compassionately, pray for the deceased, the ailing, and their families at this moment." The San Antonio Police Department shared details of the "horrific tragedy" during a news conference near the scene on … [Read more...] about ‘These deaths are on Biden’: Gov. This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 8 SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Kathy Salvi, a suburban Chicago personal injury lawyer, won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in Illinois on Tuesday, topping a field of seven candidates. Salvi, 63, of Mundelein, will take on first-term incumbent Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth in November. Duckworth, a veteran of the Iraq War, is highly popular and was unopposed in the primary. She will be the clear favorite as she seeks a second term in November in a place where Democrats control all statewide offices and voters twice rejected President Donald Trump by double digits. Salvi, who works in a Chicago-area law firm, is a former Lake County assistant public defender who ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2006. Defense rests in corruption trial of Delaware state auditor
DOVER, Del. (AP) — Delaware State Auditor Kathy McGuiness declined to testify Wednesday as the defense rested its case in her criminal corruption trial. “I am confident that my team has conveyed reasonable doubt, so no thank you, your honor,” McGuiness told Superior Court Judge William Carpenter Jr. McGuiness, a Democrat elected in 2018, is responsible as state auditor for rooting out government fraud, waste and abuse. She is being tried on felony counts of theft and witness intimidation, and misdemeanor charges of official misconduct, conflict of interest and noncompliance with procurement laws. McGuiness is the first statewide elected official in Delaware to be prosecuted while in office. Prosecutors allege, among other things, that McGuiness orchestrated a no-bid communications services contract for My Campaign Group, a consulting firm she used when running for lieutenant governor in 2016, then kept the contract payments under $5,000 to avoid having to get them approved by … [Read more...] about Defense rests in corruption trial of Delaware state auditor
Sainz: We can push harder with new 18-inch F1 tyres
Listen to this article The Barcelona test was the first time teams and drivers were able to experience the definitive 18-inch race tyres mated to the 2022 cars that they were designed for, having tested them on converted mule cars last year. Given that so much else was new in the 2022 package, tyres were not a major topic of conversation in the Barcelona paddock, suggesting that the change had not made a significant difference. However, Sainz, who ran more laps over the week than anyone else, believes that they will allow drivers to race harder, which is something that has been called for in recent seasons. "I did quite a bit of testing last year, I think I did three or four days in total with the compounds," said the Spaniard. "And they look like they are suiting well this new generation of cars, and they look to be at least allowing you to push a bit more on them. "And compared to other years, maybe a bit less overheating, a bit less deg, but there's still deg, … [Read more...] about Sainz: We can push harder with new 18-inch F1 tyres
Albon: Russell the first out of junior Brits to make ‘big step’
Coming up through the ranks with George Russell and Lando Norris, Alex Albon says the Mercedes driver is the first of the trio to make a “big step forward”. Rivals since their karting days, Albon, Russell and Norris, although a few years younger, have often raced head-to-head. The most notable of their rivalries coming in 2018 when the trio fought for the Formula 2 championship title. That went to Russell ahead of Norris and Albon, all three stepping up into Formula 1 the following season. Albon’s career, though, hit a stumbling block, the driver the first to join a current race-winning team when he was promoted to Red Bull mid-2019 but he was also the first left worrying about his career when he was dropped from the F1 grid for the 2021 championship. All three are back on the grid this season, Albon having signed with Williams , Norris still with the midfield McLaren team and Russell promoted to Mercedes where pundits predict it is just a matter of time before he wins … [Read more...] about Albon: Russell the first out of junior Brits to make ‘big step’
Tesla Worker Rejects $15 Million Payout In Race Bias Lawsuit
A Black former elevator operator at Tesla Inc's flagship California assembly plant on Tuesday rejected a $15 million award in his lawsuit alleging racial abuse by coworkers, opening the door for a new trial after a judge slashed a $137 million jury verdict. Lawyers for Owen Diaz, who had sued Tesla in 2017, turned down the judge's award in a brief filing in federal court in San Francisco. They said in a statement that the award was unjust and would not deter future misconduct by Tesla. "In rejecting the court's excessive reduction by asking for a new trial, Mr. Diaz is again asking a jury of his peers to evaluate what Tesla did to him and to provide just compensation for the torrent of racist slurs that was directed at him," his lawyers said. Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment. U.S. District Judge William Orrick lowered the jury award, which was one of the largest of its kind in a discrimination lawsuit, to $15 million in April. He had also denied Tesla's … [Read more...] about Tesla Worker Rejects $15 Million Payout In Race Bias Lawsuit
