Bernie Collins has suggested Logan Sargeant’s frequent crashes are hurting the “motivation” of the Williams team with Liam Lawson put forward as a replacement. In his debut season, Sargeant has frequently crashed the FW45 leading to not only a multi-million dollar bill but also a lot of overtime for the mechanics. The most recent incident came in Suzuka when the American crashed during qualifying, causing Willimas to fall foul of a regulation in regards to how much work can be done on a third chassis and handing them a penalty. Ross Brawn has been confirmed as Formula One’s managing director for motor sports following the departure of Bernie Ecclestone . Jean-Pierre Jabouille, whose victory for Renault in the 1979 French Grand Prix heralded a new era of turbo-powered Formula 1 cars, has died at the age of 80. While it came in Jabouille’s third season with the team, it was only their second points-scoring finish. Alpine, the F1 team run by Renault, issued a statement expressing that it was “incredibly saddened” by Jabouille’s death. “A humble racing driver, brilliant engineer, and a pioneer of our sport.
