So here we are, the list of the top 10 fastest production cars in the world, ranked by top speed. All the cars you would expect are on the list, ranked from fastest to slowest (though calling any of these cars slow is blasphemy.) We start the list with the king of fast. Keep in mind this list only includes production cars. I’ve had a lot of comments mentioning faster cars, which aren’t actually in production. Hennessey Venom GT Top Speed: 270.49 mph 1244 Horsepower The relative newcomer from Texas-based car tuner-made-manufacturer Hennessey is an impressive machine, to say the least. Sporting a twin turbo 7.0-liter V8 producing a massive 1,244 hp, the Venom GT beat a world record set by the Koenigsegg Agera R in February as being the fastest accelerating production car in the world when it did a run from 0-300 km/h in 13.63 seconds. That’s crazy fast. Not to be outdone by the French (Bugatti), Hennessey’s Venom GT broke the Veyron’s top speed at the … [Read more...] about Top 10 Fastest Cars in the World

We know Lister are working on a super SUV creation based on the Jaguar F-Pace as we received teaser after teaser. Now they have revealed a full preview of the car ahead of the official reveal which could mean we are looking at the future fastest SUV in the world. The Jaguar F-Pace SVR is one of the fastest SUV’s ever made but Lister are going to take things to a new level and dethrone the Lamborghini Urus from the top speed with a top speed of over 320 km/h (200 mph). Believe it or not, the R35 Nissan GT-R is 11 years old. It has enjoyed considerable success along the way, but after a decade, perhaps it’s time to up the ante. Nissan has already started working on designing and engineering an all-new platform for the next-generation GT-R. However, the carmaker has yet to decide how much electrification the car’s powertrain will get. At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Nissan design boss Alfonso Albaisa told Autocar that the R36 won’t take cues from the limited-run GT-R50, but “has to be its own special car,” adding that it has to be “the fastest super sports car in the world” and retain a visual identity that’s unique among cars of its kind. While Albaisa constantly reviews sketches for the supercar, he said his team cannot begin ‘serious work’ until decisions about the powertrain and the new platform is finalised. “The challenge is on the engineer, to be honest. We will do our jobs … [Read more...] about Next Nissan GT-R to be fastest supercar in the world?
Today’s Aston Martin seeks to cultivate a crisp, modern, James Bond in a very trim suit image. There was a time when things over there were more double-breasted, when they succeeded in building the most powerful (and possibly most moronic) car in the world. This story originally ran on Nov. 7, 2014 and is being featured again for the Jalopnik Christmas Evergreen Bonanza. In 1987, Ford bought a 75-percent stake in Aston Martin. In 1994, Ford bought it outright, and in 1999 rolled it into their doomed Premium Auto Group. Or Premium Something Group. I can’t even be bothered to look up its exact name, but it was a loose confederacy of Lincoln, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, maybe Mercury, and Aston Martin. The keen-eyed among you will note that it does not make sense to have the same company running both Jaguar and Aston Martin. They compete with each other for the ‘dumb Americans who want to look fancy’ market that so strongly defines the modern British auto … [Read more...] about When Aston Martin Built The Most Powerful (And Stupid) Car In The World
When the 2006 Bugatti Veyron appeared on the scene it brought new meaning to the word supercar. It was a car of large numbers and could actually live up to them. It quickly became the fastest production car ever built. The Chiron, which boasts even larger figures than the Veyron, should, theoretically, help Bugatti reclaim its claim to fame, but it looks like the automaker doesn’t have any plans to do that and it’s confusing me. The Veyron, thanks to its quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine that put out 1,001 horsepower and 922 pound-feet of torque, could hit 253 mph. Bugatti didn’t want its iconic nameplate to end there, though, continuing to come out with more powerful and faster versions. The fastest Veyron was the Super Sport that bumped up the power to 1,200 hp and 1,106 lb-ft of torque. With the extra grunt, the supercar could hit an even crazier 258 mph. With the Veyron, Bugatti was more than happy to chase top-speed records, going up against the likes of … [Read more...] about Why In The World Is Bugatti Not Maxing Out The Chiron?
