Home Four wheelers oi-Athul By Athul Published: Monday, August 15, 2022, 9:34 [IST] While Citroen has already launched and started the deliveries of the Citroen C3 hatchback in India, the French automaker has yet again grabbed the headlines after leaked information about the upcoming automatic variant of the C3 hatchback leaks online. According to this leaked information, the upcoming Citroen C3 will be using a 6-speed torque converter gearbox. While this technology is common in automatic cars, it is generally found in more expensive models. Moreover, cars in this segment use Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) as they are cheaper to produce. However, these gearboxes do not offer the same levels of refinement and are known to be 'Jerky' at times. That being said, the recently leaked information reveals that the upcoming Citroen C3 will be sporting a 6-speed torque converter gearbox from Aisin. This is … [Read more...] about Citroen C3 To Get 6-Speed Automatic Transmission

New Land Rover Defender Ends Up On A Tow Truck… In Lego Form

August 14, 2022 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

Listen to this article They say that 90 percent of Land Rovers ever made are still on the road today; the other 10 percent reached their destinations, probably on a tow truck. That jest has been around since time immemorial, which says something about Land Rover's reputation. A video from YouTube aims to represent that joke, featuring a new Land Rover Defender that's being carried by a flatbed tow truck. Both in Lego form, of course. The video came from Lego Life and while it sounds like a dig at the British automaker, it actually was a video to showcase something different. Gallery: Lego Technic 2020 Land Rover Defender 3 Photos The video was made to demonstrate how good the Tatra Lego truck's suspension setup. Tatra is a Czech vehicle manufacturer and is one of the oldest car companies in the world founded in 1850. Unlike the officially released Land Rover Defender Lego Technic , the Tatra T813 8x8 … [Read more...] about New Land Rover Defender Ends Up On A Tow Truck… In Lego Form

Kovalainen pushing on with Japan WRC plans as JRC title looms

August 13, 2022 by www.motorsport.com Leave a Comment

Listen to this article After calling time on his SUPER GT career at the end of last year, Kovalainen has focused on his Japan Rally Championship commitments this year, stepping up to the top JN-1 class in a Rally2-spec Skoda Fabia run by Team Aicello. He and co-driver Sae Kitagawa have won five of the six JRC rallies so far this year, including the most recent event in July, ARK Rally Kamuy - meaning Kovalainen can wrap up the title with a round still remaining in next month’s penultimate event, Rally Hokkaido. Once the final two events of the JRC season are out of the way, Kovalainen will turn his attention to the first round of the WRC to take place in Japan since 2010 on November 10-13. Read Also: Heikki Kovalainen Q&A: The last of a dying breed in SUPER GT Speaking to Motorsport.com, Kovalainen says he relishing the chance to test himself against higher-level competition in the Nagoya-based event than he has faced this year in the JRC. “It … [Read more...] about Kovalainen pushing on with Japan WRC plans as JRC title looms

Kawasaki “can’t be disappointed” with second in Suzuka 8 Hours

August 8, 2022 by www.motorsport.com Leave a Comment

Listen to this article 2019 champion Kawasaki lacked the pace to defend its crown on the return of the Suzuka enduro after a two-year hiatus, with Haslam, Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes finishing a lap down on the winning Honda crew comprising Tetsuta Nagashima, Takumi Takahashi and Iker Lecuona. Although Haslam could battle with Takahashi in the early laps and even briefly took the lead, aided by a safety car appearance, it soon became clear that the ZX-10RR was no match for the CBR1000RR-R and the Kawasaki trio continued to slip backwards during the race. A third-hour race intervention further dented its chances as Lowes was picked up by the second of two safety cars, before a fall for Rea in traffic eliminated any opportunity for a comeback. However, Haslam feels Kawasaki should be satisfied with its performance in the Japanese endurance classic, even if it fell short of scoring back-to-back victories after its 2019 triumph. “It's always nice to finish the 8 Hour but … [Read more...] about Kawasaki “can’t be disappointed” with second in Suzuka 8 Hours

Marcus Ericsson: There’s a lack of trust between Ferrari and the drivers

August 14, 2022 by www.planetf1.com Leave a Comment

IndyCar racer Marcus Ericsson, Charles Leclerc’s former team-mate, believes there’s a fundamental lack of trust between the two sides. Ericsson, who won the Indy 500 earlier this year, was team-mates with Charles Leclerc during the Monegasque’s debut season in Formula 1 in 2018 as the pair raced for Sauber. With Leclerc’s championship hopes in 2022 all but fully extinguished as his early season lead has turned into an 80-point deficit with nine races remaining, Ericsson put himself in the shoes of his former colleague and said he reckons Leclerc’s frustrations are adding to the mistakes being made by Ferrari. “I think he’s very frustrated. I think that he’s been fast this year, but it’s just been a lot of issues,” he said on Sky F1’s Any Driven Monday . Ericsson pointed to the example of Leclerc spinning off into retirement all by himself, while leading the French Grand Prix in July, as an example of those frustrations. “What happened in Paul Ricard, one of the … [Read more...] about Marcus Ericsson: There’s a lack of trust between Ferrari and the drivers

Red Bull open to Pierre Gasly exit: ‘Yuki Tsunoda already as quick over one lap’

August 14, 2022 by www.planetf1.com Leave a Comment

Red Bull appear to be opening the door for Pierre Gasly to pursue other opportunities when his contract expires at the end of the 2023 season. Gasly finds himself bumping his head on a glass ceiling within the Red Bull programme, having worked his way up through the ranks and into the main senior team seat alongside Max Verstappen in 2019 only to be demoted to junior team again after just 12 races. The pathway back to the senior team for Gasly appears to be blocked as they have found a more solid option in the vastly experienced Sergio Perez and, even if Perez was no longer a Red Bull driver, it would not be a dead certainty that Gasly would have a second bite of the cherry. There is a strong desire in the Formula 1 community to see Gasly follow in the footsteps of Carlos Sainz and break away from the Red Bull family and go his own way. Judging by comments made by Helmut Marko via the French branch of Motorsport.com , people may get their wish at the end of next season. … [Read more...] about Red Bull open to Pierre Gasly exit: ‘Yuki Tsunoda already as quick over one lap’

Newgarden unrepentant over Grosjean Nashville IndyCar clash

August 8, 2022 by www.motorsport.com Leave a Comment

Listen to this article After a fuel strategy didn’t work out well with the way the cautions fell, Newgarden made a late pitstop under yellow, and had to climb from 14 th , which he did with a great jump into 10 th . Then at the next restart, he made a bold dive up the inside of three cars on the penultimate restart, and as Grosjean’s Andretti Autosport-Honda approached the apex of Turn 9, the #2 Penske-Chevrolet drew fully alongside. However at the speed he was going on cold tires, Newgarden required the full width of the track on corner exit and that wasn’t available to him since Grosjean was there. That sent the AA-Honda hard into the concrete wall, which brought out a yellow flag, then the red flag to ensure the race finished under green. The 2017 and ’19 champion felt there was nothing wrong with his maneuver, telling NBC Sports, “I was alongside him fully if not fully ahead. I haven't seen it from the outside.” Then after watching the replay he said, “I'm already … [Read more...] about Newgarden unrepentant over Grosjean Nashville IndyCar clash

Wolff: Don’t destroy Nordschleife for F1

October 22, 2020 by www.planetf1.com Leave a Comment

Toto Wolff has urged Nurburgring bosses not to “destroy” the Nordschleife for the sake of trying to restore Formula 1 to the iconic German circuit. The Mercedes team principal discussed the topic in Formula 1’s Beyond The Grid podcast, shortly after the Nurburgring staged its first F1 race for seven years, the Eifel Grand Prix. A subject of fascination for many of the drivers was the Nordschleife circuit which adjoins the modern track. Nicknamed ‘The Green Hell’, the 12.9-mile circuit staged the German Grand Prix up to 1976 when Niki Lauda suffered a near-fatal accident. It is now the scene of several touring car races and also an annual 24-hour event for GT endurance cars. F1 cars have been driven around the circuit for exhibition purposes, but given the Nordschleife’s length there would be various logistical difficulties in holding a race there – plus, it would require a huge amount of work to bring it up to modern F1 safety standards. Track designer Hermann Tilke is … [Read more...] about Wolff: Don’t destroy Nordschleife for F1
