A Chinese woman has had her first experience in a Ferrari cut short after crashing a 458 Italia almost immediately after renting it. The incident happened in the city of Wenling and, unfortunately for the woman, it was all captured on camera. CCTV footage shows the driver lose control of the rear end in wet conditions. The Italian supercar can be seen fishtailing down the road before sliding through the central barricade separating lanes of traffic and hitting a white BMW X3 and a black Nissan sedan. In a cruel twist of fate, she was recording herself behind the wheel just moments before the crash, saying “First time driving a Ferrari. This truly is the most amazing feeling.” It may have been an “amazing feeling” for a few minutes, but it ended up in tears. The 458 sustained comprehensive damage to its front end and will require some serious money to be repaired, as damages include a destroyed front bumper and hood as well as the whole front left part of the … [Read more...] about Woman In China Wrecks Ferrari 458 Italia Minutes After Renting It
The internet has gotten us accustomed to all sorts of challenges between two (or more) vehicles. However, most of the time, the cars aren’t exactly equally powerful. But that’s not the case with the video shared at the end of the article, which shows a drag race between a McLaren 570S and a Ferrari 458 Italia. Surely, Maranello’s exotic model is from the previous generation, as the newer 488 GTB has welcomed a turbocharged engine instead of the good old naturally aspirated unit in the 458. But the latter mill delivers 570PS (562hp / 419kW) and 540Nm (398lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels, through a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission, allowing it to reach 100km/h (62mph) in 3.4 seconds, from a standstill. Also Watch: Dodge Challenger Demon Is No Match For McLaren 570S The McLaren 570S benefits from 570PS (562hp / 419kW), as well, but the torque number is higher: 600Nm (443lb-ft), thanks to a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine. It too has a dual-clutch … [Read more...] about McLaren 570S And Ferrari 458 Italia Hit The Drag Strip: Which One’s Faster?
Tweet TweetProbably a bit unhappy of how some photos hit the web earlier then expected, the Italians at Ferrari decided to unveil their 458 Italia Spider. Those early photos were very accurate, so we already know what it will look like, in this new setup we find out what the new Ferrari convertible looks like with the top in place. As we’ve been hearing for a while now, the new Ferrari 458 Italia Spider gets a solid folding roof, made out of aluminium this time however. Actually, the roof system on the new Ferrari 458 Italia Spider is pretty similar to the one which we first saw on the coachbuilt Superamerica 45. Underneath the new and impressive open top veneer, the Spider is still a greatly impressive Ferrari 458 Italia which means you get the same lovely details. The Ferrari 458 Italia Spider retains the mid engined, rear wheel drive setup with the same 4.5 liter direct injection V8. It still develops 562 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque and it still uses a glorious seven … [Read more...] about Ferrari 458 Italia Spider details available
Tweet TweetThe German tuners at DMC released initial details for the upcoming Ferrari 458 Italia Estremo Edizione, a comprehensive model based on the well-known Italian supercar. For now, details are limited and so are the images. We were greeted with a single official photo which shows us the exterior tweaks. To be more specific, the Italian model receives a carbon fiber hood, blacked out optical blocks, new alloy wheels, side skirts and a front apron. The rear is dominated by a wing while a carbon fiber rear diffuser is also very likely to be there. Under the hood, the stock model packs a 4.5-liter V8 engine producing 570 horsepower and 540Nm of torque. With these figures, the 0-100 km/h sprint is possible in 3,4 seconds with a top speed of 325 km/h. However, judging by the package name, we expect a power boost for the V8 powerplant. With these tweaks, the 0-100 km/h acceleration time should be very close to the 3 seconds mark while the top speed can be also slightly improved. … [Read more...] about Ferrari 458 Italia Estremo Edizione by DMC
Tweet TweetA rented Ferrari 458 Italia has managed to hit a wall in London, after going through a curb and some other obstacles along the road. This incident comes after another one taking place in Australia, where the driver of the Convertible sibling Ferrari 458 Italia has hit a tree because of the careless driver. It seems that the Ferrari 458 Italia was driving at 125 mph while it hit some metal railings, a tree and eventually a wall. Fortunately, the driver and the other passenger of the car turned out to be just fine. The Ferrari 458 Italia model was introduced on the market in 2009, as the replacement of the Ferrari F430, coming with rear mid-engine and traction at the rear wheels. The sportscar comes in two bodies, the coupe and the convertible, being powered by a 4.5-liter V8 engine, developing 562 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 540 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The Ferrari 458 Italia has a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, being able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. The … [Read more...] about Rented Ferrari 458 Italia Hits Wall in London
Tweet TweetEven if the Ferrari Italian based carmaker has stopped production of the iconic and legendary 458 Italia, which made the first page of every major newspaper worldwide, to make room for its successor, the 488 GTB, a lot of aftermarket specialists and tuning companies have not forgotten it and paid their tributes by customizing it with their special tuning programs. It is also the case of Misha Designs tuning division from the city of angels, which decided to give the Ferrari 458 Italia a special look, thanks to their own body kit tuning program. We are actually talking about two body kits to be fitted on the supercar, both coming with carbon fiber components. The first kit includes the base body parts, like revised front and rear bumpers, fenders, side skirts, while the second one adds more features, like the more distinguished side skirts and a revised rear wing, resembling that of the FXX k supercar version. Unfortunately, the Misha Designs tuning have not carried out any … [Read more...] about Ferrari 458 Italia by Misha Designs
Ferrari’s not in the crate-engine business. Sure, it makes engines for Maserati and Alfa Romeo. But you can’t just order up a new engine from the factory to do with as you please. Not as you from, say, Ford or Chevy. That’s what makes this such an intriguing prospect. Coming up for auction in Monaco next month is the engine from a 458 Italia – or for a 458 Italia, we should say. Because this one was never put into a vehicle. It was just put on a stand for display. But according to RM Sotheby’s, it has all the moving parts inside. So theoretically, at least, you could take it off the stand and put it in… well, whatever you’d like. Aficionados of the Prancing Horse marque will know that the 458’s is no ordinary engine, either. It’s the last in a long line of naturally aspirated V8s that preceded the advent of the current 488 GTB – which, as we know, went turbo. The 458’s, then, is the last of its kind. Atmospheric and … [Read more...] about What Would You Do With This Engine From A Ferrari 458 Italia?
A stolen Ferrari 458 Italia in South Africa was recently found, after being partially stripped for parts. The Italian supercar was recovered from an industrial park in KwaZulu-Natal, a province located on the eastern coast of the country, with most of its front end missing. The social media channel CrimeAirNetwork, which shared the two images, states that the Ferrari 458 Italia’s parts were stripped for cash (well, duh). The door lock on the driver’s side appears to be missing, so this is how the thieves probably gained access inside. Luckily for the owner, those involved in the dirty job didn’t get that far with the stripping, as it appears they stopped at the A-pillar. The 458 Italia still has its front brakes intact, on the right side at least, and the passenger door is not in place anymore, but it’s still there, so more cash in the owner’s pocket, if the insurance didn’t already cover the incident. The interior doesn’t seem to have been … [Read more...] about That’s Not Nice: Ferrari 458 Italia Stolen And Stripped For Parts
Land Rover is back with another video for your viewing enjoyment, and this time, it’s all about speed. While the climb up to Heaven’s Gate was heart-stopping, the new stunt is meant to get it racing again. Le Mans-winning driver Ho-Pin Tung is present yet again, but he has now swapped out the Range Rover Sport PHEV for a Range Rover Sport SVR. With a 5.0 litre supercharged V8, the Chinese national will have 575 PS and 700 Nm of torque at his disposal as he takes on dangerous Tongtian Highway, otherwise known as the Tianmen Road. With 99 turns scattered across 11.3 km of the uphill course, it certainly won’t be an easy drive, more so because Tung will be racing against the clock. The goal? To beat the time set by Fabio Barone in a Ferrari 458 Italia back in 2016 – 10 minutes 31 seconds. A big SUV taking on a focused sports car sounds like a one-sided affair, but Tung somehow managed to set an unofficial time of 9 minutes 51 seconds with an average speed of 68.8 … [Read more...] about Range Rover Sport SVR challenges a Ferrari 458 Italia on Tianmen Road
