This machine is ready to go anywhere. Time and again, we've been seeing amphibious vehicles getting featured here, and most of the time, we end up getting amazed. The latest one from Highland Systems isn't an exception, but we think we feel more than just awe on this one. Called the Storm, the Ukrainian company Highland Systems introduced this multi-purpose, heavily armored military tank at the IREX defense expo in Abu Dhabi. It's amphibious, as mentioned, but it has more to offer than just getting in and out of the water and into the dirt. Meet The Trucktopus – An Eight-Wheeled Isuzu Pickup With A V8
This is one way to stand out from the crowd. Hit up a Friday night car show in small-town Michigan, and you’ll likely see an assortment of Big Three cars from the 1950s and 60s. Few, if any, stand out as aging Baby Boomers desperately cling to their iconic youth. However, for Steve Francis, blending in wasn’t an option, which started a 20-year journey to turn a 1989 Isuzu pickup truck into something different . Francis bought the truck with its four-cylinder engine as a weekend vehicle, eventually lowering and lengthening it, giving it its iconic street-rod appearance today. The famously bumpy Sebring short course is the closest that teams can come to simulating a streetcourse surface, since the others are necessarily temporary tracks, and today’s test there was the fourth and final sign-off test run by IndyCar for the new universal-aerokit-equipped IR12. Honda’s official 2018 car tester Oriol Servia shared seat time with James Hinchcliffe in the Schmidt Peterson-run machine, while Scott Dixon drove a Chip Ganassi Racing car. In the Chevrolet camp, the Bowtie’s 2018 tester Juan Pablo Montoya shared his Penske car with newly crowned champion Josef Newgarden, while Spencer Pigot used an Ed Carpenter Racing machine. Servia, who was already enthusiastic about the new car following superspeedway, short-oval and roadcourse testing said that drivers and teams would find the 2018 car hugely demanding on street courses, and thereby achieve one of IndyCar’s prime objectives. He told Motorsport.com: “Well first of all, the test went well and we did … [Read more...] about 2018 IndyCar “a real handful, and that’s good!” says Servia at Sebring
