According to Ryan the squad is set to continue its alliance with GM products, moving from the Commodore to the Camaro next season. He says the decision is the outcome of both team owner Betty Klimenko's person preference and positive chats with General Motors representatives during last weekend's Mount Panorama 500. "At this I think we'll stay with GM," Ryan told SEN's The Driver's Seat. "There's no reason to change. We spoke to some GM guys on the weekend and it sounds like they've got a plan, which is good. "Betty is more of a GM person than a Ford person and she does a lot of these [decisions] on emotion, as much as she's a businesswoman. I think you'll see us in GM hardware." Erebus has a history that spans across a number of manufacturers, starting with Ford during the Stone Brothers Racing days. Klimenko then instigated a customer AMG programme after buying the team at the end of 2012, before a successful switch to Holden led by Ryan in 2016. Testing has started on Gen3 Supercars engines
The category is set to move to more modern, less highly-strung engines as part of its Gen3 rules , in a bid to slash both acquisition and running costs. Both the Ford and GM units are expected to be based on 'crate' engines, the Coyote for the Mustang and the LS or LT series for the Camaro. That will mean a move back to a mix of overhead cam and pushrod style engines, while there is also expected to be a difference in capacities. While the current regulations limit capacity to 5000cc, it's understood Ford is looking at the 5.4-litre version of its crate V8, while the Chevy unit could be as much as six litres. According to Supercars CEO Sean Seamer final capacities have yet to be decided, however motors are on the test bench and parity work has begun. "The engine development is underway," said Seamer. "There's plenty of work to do, but the timeline is very achievable. "We haven't landed on final capacities. Our focus is on paritising them. We know we are … [Read more...] about Testing has started on Gen3 Supercars engines
2022 Mercedes EQS Reveals Swoopy Profile In New Teaser Image
The brand's first car to be developed from the ground up as an EV is shaping up quite nicely. Mercedes must be getting closer to the world premiere of its hotly anticipated EQS because the three-pointed star is intensifying its teaser campaign. It was only on Tuesday when the German luxury brand dropped a smartphone-friendly video shot in portrait mode previewing the screen-heavy interior and now we're being given a closer look at the exterior. Thankfully, the camouflage is all gone now. This still qualifies as a teaser image because Mercedes deliberately lowered the brightness. However, we fiddled with the photo's settings and bumped up the exposure and brightness in our quest to unlock more design details. Having launched the stunning first-generation CLS in 2004 after a preview a year earlier with the Vision CLS concept, the Stuttgart-based squad sure knows how to infuse some coupe cues in a sedan's roofline.
