Whether it was through leaked technical drawings or fanciful renderings of our own making, we’ve been been predicting the coming of an all-wheel drive Toyota Prius for years. It never arrived– until last week’s LA Auto Show, that is, when Toyota took the wraps of the all-new Toyota Prius AWD! Well, it’s not ALL all-new. See, Toyota has been offering an AWD Prius in Japan since 2016. There, the system is called “e-Four” instead of “AWD-e” as it will be called here. Instead, a second electric motor is installed at the back of the car. That motor provides extra traction to the rear wheels, helping the Prius AWD to cope with low traction conditions at slow speeds, such as leaving a snow-covered driveway in the morning. By all accounts, the system works … [Read more...] about LA 2018: Toyota Launches First AWD Prius

As announced earlier, the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has been unveiled in full today, having made its world debut in Thailand – just like the Triton, Toyota Hilux and Fortuner earlier. With all the teasers, leaks and spyshots, there’s a lot that we already know of the new ladder-frame seven-seat SUV. But as it turns out, there’s a lot more to know still. Completely redesigned and built on the second-generation Triton platform, the 2016 Pajero Sport is quite an advanced machine now. Not a rudimentary roofed-in pick-up anymore, it’s not. It now measures in at 4,785 mm long (90 mm more than before) and 1,805 mm high (35 mm lower). Its width and wheelbase stay unchanged, at 1,815 mm and 2,800 mm respectively. On the outside, Mitsubishi’s new “Dynamic Shield” face dominates the front end, while the rear features a set of dramatic vertical taillights. Beautiful of not, that’s up to you to decide, but it’s interesting to note that the … [Read more...] about 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport makes ASEAN debut in Thailand!
