Coffs Harbour to host Asia Pacific Rally finale

· February 23, 2021 ·

International rallying will return to New South Wales with the new-look Coffs Coast Rally on November 26-28. The event will be the finale for both the APRC and Australian Rally Championship seasons, and gives Australia two APRC events alongside the qualifier in the Adelaide Hills on October 15-17. Coffs Harbour hosted the World Rally Championship seven times across eight years, before what was meant to be its final appearance on the WRC schedule in 2019 was cancelled due to bushfires in the area . “The NSW Nationals are building a safer and stronger regional NSW by securing world-class events for country cities, showcasing our incredible regions to the world,” said NSW deputy premier John Barilaro. “This is an example of what can happen when you have a council who is prepared to work with the government and stakeholders to bring world-class events to regional NSW.” Motorsport Australia president Andrew Fraser said the governing body will continue to work with … [Read more...] about Coffs Harbour to host Asia Pacific Rally finale

Ferrari brand returns to Super GT with Pacific Racing

· February 18, 2021 ·

The Italian marque will be represented in the GT300 ranks of the Japanese series for the first time since the 2017 season, with CarGuy owner Takeshi Kimura and Kei Cozzolino sharing a solo Ferrari 488 GT3 using Yokohama tyres. It also marks a return to SUPER GT for CarGuy, which previously campaigned a Honda NSX GT3 before quitting after the 2018 season to focus on the Le Mans 24 Hours. Pacific Racing entered into a tie-up with Aston Martin squad D'station Racing for the 2020 season, but it emerged late last year that the alliance wouldn't continue into 2021. Cozzolino was drafted in by D'station to replace the absent Nicki Thiim last year, contesting the majority of the season alongside Tomonobu Fujii. He also partnered Kimura for both of CarGuy's Le Mans appearances with Ferrari GTE machinery in 2019 and 2020. Gentleman racer Kimura meanwhile made two SUPER GT starts last year for the X Works Audi team in place of Hong Kong racer Alex Au. Ferrari becomes the … [Read more...] about Ferrari brand returns to Super GT with Pacific Racing

· January 15, 2009 ·

Ford, GM and Chrysler won't be participating in the Tokyo motor show this year due to the crisis in the industry. The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association is debating whether or not to hold the show this year due to the lack of participation. US automakers have pulled out of the Tokyo motor show. Ford, GM and Chrysler won't be participating in the Tokyo motor show this year, the automakers confirmed on Wednesday. "At this time, participating in the show just isn't a strategic priority," Ford spokeswoman Jennifer Flake said. A spokesman for GM Asia Pacific said the 2 million US dollars it would cost the automaker to take part in the show would be better spent elsewhere. Chrysler also cited its current troubles as a reason for skipping the show. The Tokyo auto show is scheduled to take place from October 21 to November 8 but organizers are debating whether to cancel the show this year due to the crisis that has hit the global automotive industry. Paddon buys TCR car in WRC return bid

· April 6, 2019 ·

Paddon , who lost his Hyundai seat to Sebastien Loeb this year, is working every possible angle to find a way back into the WRC , and taking delivery of one of the Korean manufacturer’s race cars is a sensible option. The Kiwi’s team is now based out of the Highlands Motorsport Park close to Queenstown, which means he has daily access to the 2.6-mile circuit. It could also lead to proper race outings, following this week's news that MotorSport NZ will start a local TCR series in 2020 . “Having a facility where you can just sign in and get out there and do some laps is fantastic,” Paddon told Motorsport.com. “Seat time is still so important and driving in a variety of conditions is really useful. The chance came to buy an i30 TCR and bring it down here and we jumped at the chance. “I’m always looking for ways to help work on my driving, especially on asphalt and this is another way to do that. There’s talk of a possible TCR series in New Zealand for next year, so … [Read more...] about Paddon buys TCR car in WRC return bid
