VW gets 1.6 TDI fix approval and says diesel trick is legal in Europe
Both software and hardware changes are necessary. With the official approval of The Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) in Germany, VW is getting ready to kick off another recall campaign caused by the messy and costly Dieselgate . This time around, it involves a total of 2.6 million European cars equipped with the turbodiesel four-cylinder, 1.6-liter TDI engine from the now infamous EA 189 family. It’s installed in a wide array of models from Audi, Skoda, and SEAT, as well as in cars from the core brand. VW’s engineers will have to apply a “software update” to make things right once again, and owners of affected cars are going to be contacted by the company in the weeks to come. In addition, the engine will have to go through some hardware changes as a so-called "flow conditioner" will be affixed upstream of the air mass meter, a procedure which will require less than a half an hour of working time. With both software and hardware modifications in place, cars fitted … [Read more...] about VW gets 1.6 TDI fix approval and says diesel trick is legal in Europe
Here’s Why Part Of Michigan Wasn’t Included In Jeep’s Super Bowl Ad
Let's fill in the blanks. Sports fans will have seen Super Bowl 55 as a bit of a dud and that would be the end of it. However, petrolheads took notice during the ad-break when Jeep’s advertisement left out Michigan’s upper peninsula from the US map. So what happened? For those who haven’t seen it, the punchline of the short involves Bruce Springsteen wanting the nation to unite and meet in the middle, spreading his message from a small chapel in Kansas. Spoiler alert, the place of worship stands directly in the center of the lower 48. Gallery: Bruce Springsteen On Jeep's 2021 Super Bowl Commercial 9 Photos Before we get to the automotive implications here, we’d be remiss not to start with the fact that the upper peninsula makes up 33% of the state. Aside from the omission of a major part of the 26th United State of America, somehow things get even worse; Michiganders and keen enthusiasts will know that Jeep has long been … [Read more...] about Here’s Why Part Of Michigan Wasn’t Included In Jeep’s Super Bowl Ad
2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Revealed: A Seven-Seat SUV With Rogue Bones
It’s the first Mitsu product to benefit from the company’s partnership with Nissan. The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander is finally here, and it looks good. Replacing an SUV that felt outdated even when it debuted in 2012, the next-generation Outlander crossover also benefits from Mitsubishi’s fledgling partnership with Nissan, which the spreadsheet repeatedly proves – its powertrain, wheelbase, and several interior parts are shared with the 2021 Rogue . Mitsubishi adds a standard third-row seat, which could make it attractive to many. It’s also a stylish compact crossover, with the latest iteration of Mitsubishi’s “dynamic shield” styling motif and a blockier, more traditional stance that reminds us somewhat of the old chop-top Montero Sport. And its interior receives a wholesale update with improved fit and finish, more space, and a standard 8.0-inch or optional 9.0-inch center touchscreen that finally does away with the company’s old, dated infotainment system. It appears that … [Read more...] about 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Revealed: A Seven-Seat SUV With Rogue Bones
