Jalopnik Reviews All of our test drives in one convenient place. Japan likes to do things differently. While the rest of the world is obsessing over crossovers and SUVs, the humble minivan is still very much a family favorite here. It might be a dying breed in other markets but the minivan is still going strong in Japan. The van culture in Japan is unlike any other, perhaps with the exception of Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore. And right now the Japanese automakers have the widest variety of people movers, from tiny kei-vans to S-Class rivaling luxury vans and everything in between. The fancy minivans caught my attention. While ordinary family-friendly minivans and small, affordable commercial minivans are common in other markets, only the Japanese seem to have really taken to the idea of a luxurious minivan. I wanted to find out what the big fuss was all about so I got the grandaddy of the luxury minivan—the Toyota Alphard. (Full Disclosure: Toyota of Japan hooked up with … [Read more...] about The Toyota Alphard Is the Opulent Luxury Minivan the Rest of the World Needs

Nissan calls next GT-R “fastest super sports car in the world”
July 15, 2018, 4:55 am by Ronan Glon The next-generation model is about five years away. The Nissan GT-R is above the uncertainty surrounding the coupe segment. Officials have confirmed the next-generation model is already in the works, and one of the brand's top executives has called the model "the fastest super sports car in the world."British magazine Autocar learned the next-generation GT-R will ride on a brand-new platform. It could receive some form of electrification but engineers haven't decided how much of it to include. We can't imagine it will land as a battery-electric vehicle, however, so expect to see a plug-in hybrid powertrain as the most extreme form of electrification. The possibility of ditching electrification altogether remains on the table, too."Whether we go to a lot of electrification or none at all, we can achieve a lot power-wise. But, we are definitely making a new platform and our goal is clear: GT-R has to be the quickest car of its kind. It has to own the … [Read more...] about Nissan calls next GT-R “fastest super sports car in the world”
Top 10 Collector Cars of the Future
It’s a known fact that new vehicles will start losing value as soon as you drive off the lot. This is the reason why some prefer to lease rather than buy, especially luxury vehicles that are prone to lose half their value in less than three years. Prime examples are the Cadillac CTS, Volkswagen CC, BMW 7 Series, and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The aforementioned vehicles are expected to lose approximately 58 to 64 percent of their value in a 36-month period. While this is good news for used car buyers, it’s a different story for potential new car owners. Thankfully, the 2018 Hagerty Hot List of Future Collector Cars is here to save the day. Hagerty is one of the largest membership, insurance, and media organizations dedicated to collectible vehicles and car owners globally. Their list is home to 10 new vehicles that are projected to be highly collectible 30 years from now, and each have an MSRP less than $100,000. These vehicles are expected to retain their value in … [Read more...] about Top 10 Collector Cars of the Future
The Rolex 24 @ Daytona: A Beginner’s Guide To One Of The Most Spectacular Races In The World
The wait for one of the most action-packed races in the world is almost over; its finally time for the Rolex 24 at Daytona, a historic 24 Hour race held at the legendary Daytona International Speedway in Florida. The race is a championship round of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship, which is contested in racetracks across the USA. So, as the race comes closer, let’s have a look at its history and how it operates today. History The 24 Hours Of Daytona started out in 1962 as the Daytona Continental 3 Hour Race and also had brief spells as a 2000km race and a 6 hour race but in 1966 it turned into the format that it is well known for, a hardcore 24 hour endurance race. Since then, it has played host to some incredible battles, with the most memorable one being the epic Ford vs Ferrari feud which took place in the late 60s. Porsche have won the most races at Daytona as constructors with 13 wins, the last one coming 15 years ago in 2003. Riley follow them up in second … [Read more...] about The Rolex 24 @ Daytona: A Beginner’s Guide To One Of The Most Spectacular Races In The World
