ELECTRIC and hybrid motors hold their value more than any other vehicles, a new study has revealed. And some of the most depreciating cars lose almost 75 per cent of their value in just three years. A recent breakdown by auto industry experts What Car? revealed the cars depreciating the least after three years on the market - and the ones losing the most value. The study of more than 7,000 different cars found new electric and hybrid vehicles retained 47 per cent of their market value on average, beating out both petrol and diesel models. Range Rover's Evoque R-Dynamic P250 was the best performing motor on the market, holding onto 70 per cent of its original £38,675 price tag. Hybrid models from Porsche and Audi also scored well in the study, all maintaining around 65 per cent of their original price. THE secrets of Britain's roads have been revealed with the most popular colours and common motors revealed. And according to the figures, a silver Ford Fiesta is the most common car in the UK. With more than 1.5million cars on the road, the Fiesta beat sister model Focus to take the top spot for car most likely to be spotted on the road. The majority of drivers are opting for small cars, with the supermini category dominating the market with almost 11.5million cars on the road - more than two million more than the next most popular segment. MILLIONS of Brits are making a simple mistake when it comes to their car insurance, costing them up to £278 each year. Motorists that fall into the trap of automatically renewing their insurance policy or staying with the same provider can end up paying more than they would if they shopped around. According to research conducted by MoneySuperMarket, over 60 per cent of drivers will stick with their current policy holder because they had the cheapest price the previous year. But the move ends up contributing to a total £652.5million that Brits waste for failing to check out other providers. The study found that motorists who let their policy automatically renew saw their premiums rise by £50 on average - but that figure could be as much as £278. The National Insurance Crime Bureau came out with its list of the top 10 vehicles reported stolen in New York State in 2015, and familiar brands are among those favored by car thieves. 10. Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee The Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee were the 10th most-reported stolen vehicle in New York State in 2015, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau's study. All told, there were 263 Jeep Cherokees or Grand Cherokees stolen in 2015, with the 2015 model year being the most popular. 9. Toyota Corolla There were 280 Toyota Corollas stolen in New York State in 2015, making it the ninth-most targeted model among car brands. Last year more than a quarter of all drivers changed their car insurance provider, according to new figures from comparison site GoCompare. The number of people in the UK who switched their car insurance increased from 22% in 2016 to 27% in 2017. The increase in switching activity has been largely attributed to rising premiums in the car insurance market, which reached record levels last year and are believed to have prompted more drivers to investigate their options. Average motor premiums rose by 9% in 2017, according to the Association of British Insurers (ABI), adding an extra £40 to the average motor insurance policy. In a wide-ranging survey, the report revealed that 47% of people switched at least one of the top 10 financial products in the last 12 months, with car, home insurance and household utilities the most likely to be switched.
