A two-year-old foreign toddler was severely injured after an untethered pit bull savagely attacked him in Pattaya. The boy needed 200 stitches and is now in intensive care. A 5-minute video clip that went viral on social media shows the dog mauling the young child in a village while out walking with his babysitter. Two witnesses, Mr Somkiat, 67, and Mr Jet, 39, told reporters the incident took place on Monday at 4pm when the babysitter took two boys aged 4 and 2 out for a walk. The dog's owner left her gate open when taking out the garbage as they were passing by her home. Her 70-kilogramme pit bull suddenly attacked the group. Only the babysitter and older brother managed to escape. It took several minutes before the babysitter, the dog's owner and some bystanders were able to detach the dog from the two-year-old. Demonstrations erupt at Supreme Court, spread nationally as Roe falls
WASHINGTON -- The historic overturning of Roe v. Wade met with an outpouring of joy and rage on Friday, as street demonstrations that began outside the Supreme Court after the decades-old guarantee of abortion access was struck down spread through the nation's capital and to cities across the United States. Thousands of abortion rights supporters gathered in downtown Washington to assail the court's ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, as other marches to protest the decision unfolded in cities including New York, Chicago, Nashville, San Francisco and Los Angeles. After the leak of a draft of the opinion last month, few were surprised. But many were still in shock. The scene outside the court in the immediate wake of the Dobbs ruling captured Americans' wildly divergent reactions to a watershed moment in one of the nation's bitterest debates. Antiabortion activists brimmed with joy at a long-sought legal victory while supporters of abortion rights voiced fury … [Read more...] about Demonstrations erupt at Supreme Court, spread nationally as Roe falls
Three players Rockets, other teams could aim for in 2023 NBA draft
The Rockets have been incredibly fortunate to land top three picks in consecutive seasons and secure elite talent like Jalen Green and Jabari Smith . Luckily for the Rockets, there looks like there will be a franchise-changer available at the top of the 2023 draft and a clear-cut top three. Although we’re 12 months away from next year’s draft, and a lot can happen, there’s not much of anything – aside from a catastrophic injury – that would knock Victor Wembanyama out of next year’s No. 1 pick. Here’s a look at the 18-year-old, who already is playing professionally overseas, and the other two players who figure to be available for teams fortunate enough to be … [Read more...] about Three players Rockets, other teams could aim for in 2023 NBA draft
Collision over cannabis
Collision over cannabis Anutin: 'Don't politicise ganja' Two of the brightest stars in politics were on a collision course last week, which had observers speculating on the possibility of one plotting to upstage or even undermine the other. The delisting of cannabis as a narcotic has catapulted Anutin Charnvirakul to stardom, not only as public health minister but as leader of second-biggest coalition partner, the Bhumjaithai Party. As public health minister, he has pushed for cannabis to be decriminalised to allow people to capitalise on its medicinal properties and for research purposes. Also, he prides himself as being a leader of a political party able to overcome the unthinkable -- removing cannabis from the narcotics list -- which was adopted as Bhumjaithai's flagship campaign promise and dismissed by most people from the outset as wishful thinking. However, decriminalisation has come with a chorus of warnings from medical professionals about the dangers of … [Read more...] about Collision over cannabis
