Emilia Romagna GP: Hamilton beats Perez, Verstappen to pole

· April 17, 2021 ·

Hamilton held on to take his 99th career pole despite not improving on his final flying lap, with his Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas qualifying down in eighth, on spot ahead of Lando Norris, who lost a time that would have put him third due to a track limits violation. Both Mercedes cars and Verstappen will start the race on the advantageous medium tyres after successfully getting through on the yellow-walled rubber, which offers significantly better durability compared to the softs. Hamilton led the way after the first runs in Q3 with a 1m14.411s, but could not recover time lost in the first sector on his second effort. This meant he did not improve the pole benchmark, despite setting the fastest time in the final sector, but as his rivals did not improve by enough he held on to claim his first pole of the 2021 season. Perez outqualified Verstappen in his second event for Red Bull, ending up just under 0.1s adrift of Hamilton's fastest time. But the Mexican driver … [Read more...] about Emilia Romagna GP: Hamilton beats Perez, Verstappen to pole

Steelbird BRAT Series Of Helmets Launched In India: Developed In Association With Blauer

· April 17, 2021 ·

Home Two wheelers lekhaka-Athul z By Athul Z Updated: Saturday, April 17, 2021, 20:58 [IST] Steelbird has recently announced a new range of helmets named BRAT for Indian consumers. The BRAT series of helmets are made in collaboration with US-based manufacturer, Blauer. Blauer is a manufacturer of high-performance, protective apparel for public safety. The collaboration of Steelbird and Blauer will be further strengthened to bring more helmets to the Indian market. Even though many imported helmets adhere to the highest international standards, most of them lack ISI approval as they are imported and disappointingly enough, some users have also been fined heavily for not using ISI helmets. Steelbird claims that their BRAT helmets meet both European and ISI standards of ECE 22.05 and IS:4151, respectively. The new range of BRAT helmets come with a high-impact thermoplastic shell which is not only strong but is lighter than … [Read more...] about Steelbird BRAT Series Of Helmets Launched In India: Developed In Association With Blauer

Alpine A120 teased in first official video

· December 8, 2016 ·

The hotly anticipated, rear-wheel-drive, mid-engined sports car seems to be quite adept at hooning. Reformed sports car maker Alpine has dropped the first official teaser of its upcoming A120, one of the most hotly anticipated new models that is due for launch in 2017. Alpine’s dedicated website and Youtube channel have gone live, and ordering has opened for the initial First Edition model, suggesting the car’s launch is imminent. The Alpine name hasn’t been around since the mid-1990s. The company was founded 40 years earlier by Renault tuner and racer Jean Redele. It quickly graduated from making tuning parts to building Renault-based, rear-engined sports cars. Alpines proved hugely successful in racing and rallying, often punching well above their weight. Renault bought the company in 1973 and spliced it into the factory Renault Sport racing department. Alpine continued producing rather idiosyncratic road cars until Renault pulled the plug in 1995. Beneath the … [Read more...] about Alpine A120 teased in first official video

Portuguese MotoGP: Quartararo on pole as Bagnaia lap deleted

· April 17, 2021 ·

The Ducati rider blasted the old Algarve lap record with a 1m38.494s on his final lap, but a crash for 2020 Portugal poleman Miguel Oliveira brought out the yellow flags and cost Bagnaia his lap. Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro set the early benchmark at a solid 1m39.452s, but this was blasted by Quartararo, who fired in a weekend-best of 1m39.028s. The FP4 pacesetter was on course to better this on his second lap, but a snap on the front-end of his Yamaha under braking for Turn 8 forced him to abort. At the same time, Pramac's Johann Zarco was putting some serious pressure on Quartararo's lap, but he crashed at the Turn 11 Portimao corner. This wound up affecting both Bagnaia on the Ducati and Quartararo's teammate Maverick Vinales, who had their fastest laps at that point cancelled. This dropped Bagnaia from second to 11th and Vinales from fifth to seventh, with Petronas SRT's Franco Morbidelli promoted to second courtesy of the former's lap cancellation. … [Read more...] about Portuguese MotoGP: Quartararo on pole as Bagnaia lap deleted
