Polestar will reveal their next model at the Geneva International Motor Show. The Polestar 2 will compete with other high performance EVs, including the Tesla Model 3. BOOM! That sound you heard was a huge warning shot right across the bow of Elon Musk’s yacht. To quote directly from Polestar: “Polestar 2 is the first electric car to compete in the marketplace around the Tesla Model 3, with the range starting at a guide price of 39,900 euros.” You best get your ducks in a row Elon. First Audi poses a challenge, now the latest from Polestar. Bringing Out The Big Guns To get you up to speed, Polestar is Volvo’s performance arm, sort of like the Scandy version of BMW’s M division or Merc’s AMG. Polestar is also, much like Porsche’s upcoming Taycan, getting into electric vehicles in a big way. And this is a good thing, unless your name is Elon Musk. Teslas are, for all intents and purposes, good cars, but they have also had it kind of easy. … [Read more...] about Did The Polestar 2 Just Challenge The Tesla Model 3?

Polestar’s second model will arrive next year as a Tesla Model 3 rival, offering up to 400hp and a driving range as high as 350 miles. The figures were confirmed by the company’s chief operating officer Jonathan Goodman to Autocar, adding that the Polestar 2 will have a price range of between £30,000 and £50,000 in the UK. Moreover, the Polestar 2 will offer 350 miles of driving range in its base version. “That’ll represent the lower ‘bookend’of our showroom range and, for now, it should give us as much access to the volume end of the EV market as we need,” said Goodman. The Polestar 2 is expected to closely relate to the 40.2 Concept, a high-riding four-door sedan revealed back in 2017 alongside the 40.1 Concept that previewed the XC40 SUV. Polestar will launch its second model next year, followed by a larger all-electric SUV called the Polestar 3. Goodman warned that any established manufacturer that will launch an electric-only … [Read more...] about Polestar 2 EV To Go After Tesla Model 3 With 350-Mile Range And Up To 400HP
The California Air Resources Board has provided range estimates for the Tesla Model 3 all-wheel drive and performance models. The dual-motor electric-car variants will go 455 miles on a single charge, per CARB. It’s important to note the CARB ratings are not EPA estimates or real-world figures. Instead, CARB uses its own methodology. What’s most interesting is the drop in range compared to the rear-wheel-drive Model 3. The Model 3 Long Range sans the dual-motor setup returns 495 miles, per CARB. The EPA has officially rated the Model 3 Long Range variant with a 310-mile range estimate. SEE ALSO: The Tesla Model 3 is Coming to the UK This Month Although the AWD and performance model certificates are now available, CARB still hasn’t published any information on the Model 3 Short Range variant. The most affordable variant has been missing in action since production started as Tesla works to produce pricier vehicles. Thus far, only the Long Range, AWD and performance … [Read more...] about CARB Rates Tesla Model 3 AWD Range at 455 Miles
Well over two years after the Tesla Model 3 was revealed as a prototype in the United States, the electric sedan will make its European debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Although Goodwood is often used by automakers to show their vehicles on the move, the Model 3 will only be on static display. Nonetheless, this point is unlikely to dissuade local buyers from putting down their deposits to secure one. Additionally, the Model 3 displayed at the event will be left-hand drive, despite the UK driving on the right. Production of the right-hand drive Model 3, for markets like the UK and Australia, won’t start until next year. The Model 3 was initially expected to land on European shores this year, but that date has been pushed back due to the various issues crippling production in recent months. It would be interesting to learn how many customers in the UK have already placed orders, though. The electric automaker is expected to offer the full range of Model 3 variants across … [Read more...] about Tesla Model 3 To Make Its European Debut At Goodwood Festival
So far, every video review we’ve seen of the Model 3 paints the picture of a phenomenal car, but European press has still to get a go in the most hyped EV of the year. Actually, scratch that – Autocar just posted their first driving impressions of the entry-level Tesla. Instead of waiting for the Palo Alto-based automaker to launch the Model 3 in Europe (and, for the UK, put the steering wheel on the other side of the dashboard), the British magazine flew over to the US in order to see if all the hype is real. The biggest issue with the Model 3 right now is mostly production-related, as Tesla is struggling to raise the output in order to satisfy the hundreds of thousands of customers that placed an early order. As Tesla’s first try in the mainstream car market, the Model 3 remains an impressive achievement and perhaps the most credible electric vehicle right now. It has a pretty long range (310 miles/500 km according to the EPA) and the sort of performance (0-60 mph … [Read more...] about Tesla Model 3 Is By No Means Perfect, But It’s Highly Desirable
