Carlos Monarrez Detroit Free Press Published 6:01 AM EDT Oct 20, 2018 Remember the Dead Things? No? Don’t worry. Your current Detroit Red Wings are doing a great job of recreating their horrible era of hockey in the 1970s and early '80s. So far this season, they’ve played seven games without recording a victory. They’re 0-5-2, with two measly points. Along the way, the Wings have racked up embarrassing losses to the Boston Bruins and the Montreal Canadiens. Sixty minutes of hell? Oh, yeah. Every night for Wings fans. After Thursday’s 3-1 loss at Tampa Bay and Florida's shootout win over the Washington Capitals on Friday night, the Wings became the NHL’s only winless team. The Wings and Panthers are headed for a showdown Saturday night that could possibly draw tens of fans. Everyone knows this is a rebuild. Sure. But this is looking bad even for that. Dylan Larkin and Tyler Bertuzzi have been the only bright spots among the young players who are … [Read more...] about Red Wings may have to fire Jeff Blashill if losing snowballs

With Henrik Zetterberg out, who will fill in for Detroit Red Wings?
Helene St. James Detroit Free Press Published 11:50 p.m. UTC Sep 4, 2018 Several young skaters have a chance to get noticed as the Detroit Red Wings head toward training camp, especially in the wake of the Henrik Zetterberg situation. Zetterberg is expected to see Dr. Frank Cammisa next week, if not sooner. Cammisa was the doctor who performed back surgery on Zetterberg in the spring of 2014. “He knows his back as well as anybody,” general manager Ken Holland told the Free Press on Tuesday. “We’ll see what he says, then determine if we need another opinion.” Zetterberg, who turns 38 on Oct. 9, told the Free Press last week he will miss the start of the season because of pain associated with his back injury, which has prevented him from training properly this offseason. “I need someone to tell me I can’t play hockey anymore,” Zetterberg said. Henrik Zetterberg’s return ‘a real unknown’ for Red Wings, Ken Holland says
Rod Beard The Detroit News Published 5:52 p.m. UTC Aug 10, 2018 The news Friday wasn’t all good for the Detroit Red Wings. As they announced they had reached a new agreement with Dylan Larkin on a five-year deal, retaining one of the critical pieces for their franchise rebuild, the extended outlook for Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg, 37, wasn’t quite as optimistic. General manager Ken Holland said he’s not sure if Zetterberg, who has been hampered by back issues, will return for his 16th season. “I am anxious to know where Henrik Zetterberg is at — certainly, he’s a bit of an unknown in terms of health. He didn’t practice basically the last two, two and a half months of the season; he just played games,” Holland said Friday. “I have talked to his agent a number of times over the course of the summer and I know he’s had a tough summer. “He hasn’t been able to train anywhere near close to what he’s … [Read more...] about Henrik Zetterberg’s return ‘a real unknown’ for Red Wings, Ken Holland says
This Advance Fairlady Hits The Z-Spot
Advancing The Z I’ve spent quite a bit of time in the Yokohama workshop of Advance recently as they worked on converting Project NSX from automatic to manual. Masa and Yagi have one of the most appealing lineups of customer cars I’ve come across in Japan, so while my car was up on the lift one Saturday, I took one of their latest customer builds aside for a closer look. The shop specialises in preparing customer cars for attacking Fuji Speedway, and is perhaps best known for their NSX work thanks to the exploits of a certain yellow demo car as driven by Masa and his father before him. However, walk into the shop any day of the week and you’ll quickly realise that the Advance repertoire encompasses any and all performance platforms that have come out of Asia or Europe. There exists a sweet spot for tuning cars where the purchase price has depreciated significantly but OEM and aftermarket parts are still plentiful and … [Read more...] about This Advance Fairlady Hits The Z-Spot
