The Mercedes-AMG C63 S is the most potent offering of the C-Class range. Its 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine produces 503 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. That’s good for an acceleration of 0-62 mph in just 3.9 seconds. However, those who are looking to squeeze more power out of it can turn to the latest tuning package released by G-Power. The G-Power package increases the output of the C63 S engine to a total of 789 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque. That’s 286 hp and 221 lb-ft more than the fresh-from-the-factory figures of the vehicle. The power boost propels the car from 0-62 mph in a mere 3.4 seconds. The upgrades are made possible by the installation of the G-Power Performance Software V4 to the C-Class’ engine software. Mechanical tweaks are also introduced, including the addition of CNC-machined compressor and turbine wheels, optimization of the compressor housing and enlargement of the intake area. These are complemented by lighter and more rigid forged pistons plus … [Read more...] about G-Power Mercedes-AMG C63 S Takes Off From 0 to 62 MPH in 3.4 Seconds

Yuri Kageyama Associated Press Published 7:34 AM EDT Sep 18, 2018 Tokyo – Electric drones booked through smartphones pick people up from office rooftops, shortening travel time by hours, reducing the need for parking and clearing smog from the air. This vision of the future is driving the Japanese government’s “flying car” project. Major carrier All Nippon Airways, electronics company NEC Corp. and more than a dozen other companies and academic experts hope to have a road map ready by the year’s end. “This is such a totally new sector Japan has a good chance for not falling behind,” said Fumiaki Ebihara, the government official in charge of the project. Nobody believes people are going to be zipping around in flying cars any time soon. Many hurdles remain, such as battery life, the need for regulations and, of course, safety concerns. But dozens of similar projects are popping up around the world. A flying car is defined as an aircraft … [Read more...] about Will ‘flying cars’ take off? Japan’s government hopes so
Frank Witsil Detroit Free Press Published 7:01 AM EDT Sep 18, 2018 An entrepreneurial Detroiter aims to raise as much as $20,000 this week to give away at least 100 scooters — and helmets — to youngsters who don't have them. "This whole Bird scooter charging experiment just came full circle for me," Andy Didorosi, 31, posted to Facebook late Sunday. "It's a long read, so strap in!" Didorosi said in a telephone interview Monday he noticed that the trendy electric devices designed for hipster adults to rent and zoom around downtown and Midtown are finding their way into lower-income neighborhoods where kids are playing with them. "These kids don't know what these things are. They've just shown up in their neighborhoods," said Didorosi, the founder and CEO of the Detroit Bus Co. "But, scooters are typically in the provenance of kids, not millennials or commuter yuppie-types." So when the kids get them, off they go. Just rest comfortably on the couch here. That’s good. Now, what seems to be the problem? We’re giving everyone a chance to talk it out today, as each and every one of us harbors some type of anxiety, insecurity, or deeply rooted fear. Oh, you don’t? Sounds like you’re lying to yourself. The inspiration for this QOTD lies in a tragedy. Earlier this week, a bridge collapse in Genoa, Italy, killed 39 people, with some motorists surviving a plunge of up to 180 feet. Others braked in time to avoid tumbling off the edge of the crumbling span. For many, perhaps even yourself, this exact scenario (or something like it) takes top billing on the “worst driving fear” list. However, other worries — both rational and irrational — cloud our time behind the wheel, watering down the pure, unadulterated joy of driving. What’s your greatest driving fear? I’ll tell you mine. There’s two, actually. The first is a rational worry. Driving in … [Read more...] about QOTD: Fear Takes the Wheel?
Similar to how Audi‘s S Line kit makes their models look fast without necessarily having flagship-levels of power underneath the hood, Hyundai’s N-Line spec is looking to do the same within the Korean automaker’s range. So while this i30 N-Line prototype might look almost as menacing as the 250 PS i30 N flagship (there’s a 275 PS version too), in reality it’s all about sporty exterior mods, such as the aggressive bumper design, dual exhaust system, side skirts and large roof spoiler. The N badge on the front grille remains hidden though. As previously reported, we expect Hyundai to offer their N Line kit alongside most powertrains in the i30 range, including the 1.4-liter T-GDI with its 140 PS (138 HP) and 242 Nm (178 lb-ft) of torque. Whether you’ll also be able to dress up your 1.6-liter 110 PS (108 HP) CRDi diesel with N Line duds remains to be seen – but we don’t see why not. It’s also likely that the automaker will include a … [Read more...] about New Hyundai i30 N-Line Takes Off Camouflage During Track Test
