The team which has dominated the 2023 Formula 1 season so far introduced an update to its car last weekend which drew inspiration from a design used by the team currently at the bottom of the standings. Advert | Become a Supporter & go ad-free Red Bull’s chief engineer of car engineering Paul Monaghan said the latest revision to the RB19’s diffuser follows a trend adopted by Williams, among other teams. The team increased the curvature of the edges of its diffuser in an update introduced at last weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix in order to increase the downforce it generates. In the information it supplied to the FIA, Red Bull made a point of stating the change “took inspiration from competitor designs.” “You can’t assume that you have the best solution in all areas of the car when you first put your car on the ground,” Monaghan told media including RaceFans. “Our currency is lap time, isn’t it? “If you look that piece of floor design, that was out early 2022. Hamilton and Russell were seeking tow from Sainz when they collided – Mercedes · RaceFans

Mercedes have shed further light on the bizarre collision between its two drivers which occured during qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix. Advert | Become a Supporter & go ad-free George Russell was given a formal warning by the stewards after making contact with his team mate Lewis Hamilton on the pit straight. The pair were overtaking Carlos Sainz Jnr’s Ferrari at the time. The team’s head of trackside engineering Andrew Shovlin said the incident occured because both drivers were trying to use Sainz’s car to get a slipstream to improve their lap times. “The drivers were trying to find a car finishing a lap in order to get a slingshot starting the lap themselves,” said Shovlin in a video released by the team . “So that will give them more straight-line speed. “You can find around a tenth, maybe a little bit more on the straight. That car that was finishing then peels in and they can then conduct the rest of the lap in clear air.” However the two … [Read more...] about Hamilton and Russell were seeking tow from Sainz when they collided – Mercedes · RaceFans

2024 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Garage 56 Edition Brings Le Mans Racer To The Road

June 8, 2023 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

The Chevrolet Camaro will cease production after the 2024 model year. However, it’s going out with a bang. Earlier this week, Chevrolet announced the Collector’s Edition, and it has now unveiled the 2024 Camaro ZL1 Garage 56 Edition to celebrate the NASCAR Cup Camaro ZL1 racing in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Camaro receives a handful of visual upgrades replicating the race car’s look, although we doubt the two will sound the same . The car wears a new-for-2024 Riptide Blue exterior that is available across the model line, which Chevy spruces up with a graphics package that mimics the race car’s livery. Facelifted BMW 1 Series Spied On Nurburgring With Less Camouflage

June 8, 2023 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

The current generation BMW 1 Series has been around since 2019, which means the time has come for the entry-level model from Munich to get a mid-cycle refresh. Work on the facelifted hatchback continues as a new prototype is spied with less camouflage than before lapping the Nurburgring. While this is obviously a fully disguised trial vehicle, there seems to be some progress with the front fascia. The lower section of the bumper now shows more of its design, which appears to be dominated by a large trapezoidal grille with triangle air openings at the sides. This looks like a more aggressive layout compared to the outgoing model and it is worth mentioning that this is likely the M135i version of the hatchback. This easily explains the larger diamond-cut finish wheels, which come from the pre-facelifted model, and the quad exhaust pipes at the back. 2004 Porsche Cayenne S With 1.9 TDI Diesel Is The Definition Of Frugal Luxury

June 8, 2023 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

For the 2024 model year in the United States, even in its base form, the Porsche Cayenne comes with a 3.0-liter turbo V6 generating 348 horsepower and 368 pound-feet. This makes it more powerful than the first-generation Cayenne S with its 4.5-liter naturally aspirated V8, which had 335 hp and 310 lb-ft. But if performance and speed are not what you are looking for in a Cayenne, then this 2004 Cayenne S might answer your needs. The vehicle recently came up for sale in Ukraine as a good-looking first-gen Cayenne with OEM wheels and a few aftermarket tweaks. The styling isn’t the most important thing about it, as there’s now a 1.9-liter TDI diesel engine from Volkswagen under the hood of Stuggart’s flagship SUV. The four-cylinder direct injection compression ignition mill is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox sourced from a Volkswagen Touareg 2.5 TDI. How Le Mans is using grape residues and hydrogen to drive a sustainable future

June 8, 2023 by www.motorsport.com Leave a Comment

Motorsport – and Le Mans in particular – has long been a pioneering proving ground for new technologies. However, as the world zeroes in on net zero goals, reducing carbon emissions in such a high-performance environment for such a long period of time is a major challenge. The race organisers are working with TotalEnergies to explore all the options and Romain Aubry, the company’s Technical Manager – who was born and grew up by the Mulsanne Straight – explains: “There are many different technologies and we are not here to say that one is better than another. “Le Mans is a unique platform for us to test new energy approaches and these include 100% sustainable fuels that were introduced last year; a battery solution we have co-developed with Peugeot and Saft, our affiliates; and a hydrogen refilling solution for MissionH24 project with big plans for the future.” Electric power has been pioneered in Formula E, where TotalEnergies is an EV fluid supplier, and has progressed from … [Read more...] about How Le Mans is using grape residues and hydrogen to drive a sustainable future
