Helmut Marko has refuted suggestions that Ferrari have the faster car, but that doesn’t mean he believes Red Bull’s is ahead. Although Red Bull are dominating this year’s championship standings, well ahead of Ferrari on both logs, the numbers don’t tell the full story. Ferrari’s F1-75, especially in the hands of Charles Leclerc, has often been the pace-setter with the Monégasque taking seven pole positions. But when it comes to Sundays, that’s when it goes wrong for Ferrari which has allowed Red Bull to seize the advantage time and again, Max Verstappen up to eight wins for the season with Sergio Perez on one. Three of Verstappen’s wins, Spain, Baku and France, came after Leclerc retired while running P1 while another, Hungary, saw him take advantage after Ferrari dropped the ball with Leclerc’s strategy. But while it is fair to say that Red Bull have benefitted from Ferrari’s reliability issues and strategy blunders , Marko believes there is very little between … [Read more...] about Helmut Marko disagrees with claim Ferrari are faster than Red Bull

F1 bosses plan to award a point for fastest lap in 2019 · RaceFans
An 11th-hour change to the sporting regulations for the 2019 F1 season could see drivers score a point for setting the fastest lap during a race. Advert | Become a Supporter & go ad-free RaceFans understands that due to the limited time available before the opening round, a proposal outlining the rationale for the change will be presented during tomorrow’s FIA World Motor Sport Council meeting in Geneva, with approval in principal for the change being sought. Should the WMSC be in favour, then a majority vote from F1’s Strategy Group and unanimous F1 Commission approval will be sought via e-votes before the WMSC is requested to rubber-stamp the regulation change. I’d go anywhere right now to see a Sondheim musical
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 3 PITTSFIELD, Mass. - Revisiting as many Sondheim musicals as possible is not an arduous undertaking, and one I have engaged in at many junctures of my life. As much as I can - to paraphrase one of Sondheim and James Lapine's own characters in "Sunday in the Park With George"- I want to live again in his canvasses. Broadway has recently obliged with outstanding revivals of "Company" (1970) and "Into the Woods" (1987), and the months ahead offer other intriguing possibilities: Sondheim-centric Signature Theatre in Arlington, Va., is turning its new season into a veritable retrospective, offering up three Sondheim musicals, including the rarely seen "Pacific Overtures," from 1976, to be directed by Ethan Heard, the company's recently appointed associate artistic … [Read more...] about I’d go anywhere right now to see a Sondheim musical
George Russell: Crying and sulking won’t make the car go faster
Mercedes cannot “cry and sulk” about the performance of the W13 as that will not make it go any faster, George Russell points out. With all-new technical regulations on the horizon, Formula 1 managing director Ross Brawn warned last year one team could get it wrong. Nobody thought that team would be Mercedes. While their W13 is not exactly wrong per se, it is the car that bounced the most in the early part of the championship which forced Mercedes to sacrifice downforce in order to minimise the bouncing. The team reckon they are on top of that in the last few races, with trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin saying it is “no longer” an issue . The next task Mercedes face is recovering the lost downforce and finding a way to do that without re-igniting the porpoising. Russell has backed the Brackley squad to get it right. “You can’t cry and sulk about the overall performance,” he told the BBC . “That wouldn’t be productive and it wouldn’t go any … [Read more...] about George Russell: Crying and sulking won’t make the car go faster
