Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 23 SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina (AP) — Bosnia’s general election should be about the fight against rampant corruption and helping the country’s ailing economy. But at a time when Russia has a strong incentive to reignite conflict in the small Balkan nation, Sunday’s vote appears set to be an easy test for the long-entrenched nationalists who have ignored the needs of the people. Voters are choosing the three members of the shared, Bosnian presidency, parliament deputies at the state, entity and regional levels, and the president of the country’s Serb-run part. The long-serving Bosnian Serb political leader Milorad Dodik, who is running for that last office, has used the election campaign to champion a secessionist agenda and Russia’s war in Ukraine. “(Bosnian Serbs) … [Read more...] about Bosnia election expected to re-legitimize a failing system

Listen to this article Mercedes has struggled all season with the W13, notably with porpoising and ride issues, and the car has only really shone at high-downforce venues. Russell says that the team has chosen a specific philosophy for the W14, and has clear targets that it will try to meet. "I'm confident that the direction we need to take is the correct one," he said. "We have a philosophy that we're going to be trying to adopt in our development, and I'm very confident that is the correct one. "But equally, it doesn't mean that we can necessarily achieve it. We have a target, and that is a massive positive in itself. As I said, we have a clear target we're trying to chase. "Now, can we achieve that? I have every confidence that we can. We obviously don't know how much the other rivals are going to improve over this winter. "But I definitely have confidence that we will have a more complete car across the circuit ranges into 2023." Russell insisted that his … [Read more...] about Russell: Mercedes will have “more complete car” in F1 2023
Listen to this article Street circuits are known for being mentally taxing despite the lower speeds involved, requiring full concentration at all times and little time for respite on the short straights. But Singapore is a beast like no other. It is renowned for being one of the hardest races to compete in both physically and mentally, meaning it requires a kind of preparation unlike any other race. Daniel Ricciardo says his first Singapore Grand Prix back in 2011 remains the toughest physical activity he has ever completed. "I wasn't prepared, and that sounds like I was partying all week!" he tells Motorsport.com. "I didn't realise how much the humidity and the relentless nature of that circuit with like no real straights to have a rest. I'd never really experienced anything like that." It didn't help that Ricciardo was then racing for backmarker outfit HRT, meaning he found himself four laps down by the chequered flag in 19th place - hardly the same kind of … [Read more...] about Why Singapore remains the toughest Formula 1 driver challenge
Listen to this article A combination of lower costs, particularly when compared to the LMP1 era of the FIA World Endurance Championship, and the chance to race the same car in two major series have proven key factors in luring manufacturers back to the top class of the WEC (simply known now as 'Hypercar') and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (where the equivalent class is called 'GTP'). Before we proceed to the list of marques, it's worth reiterating the differences between LMDh and LMH regulations. LMDh is essentially a successor to the successful DPi platform IMSA introduced in 2017. As was the case previously, manufacturers must base their new designs upon a next-generation LMP2 chassis, of which there are four licensed constructors: Oreca, Dallara, Ligier and Multimatic. Engine choice remains free within the scope of regulations, but all cars must now be fitted with a spec hybrid system built jointly by Bosch (inverter), Williams Advanced Engineering … [Read more...] about Who will race in WEC and IMSA with LMDh/LMH cars in 2023?
Heading to the final street circuit on this year’s calendar, George Russell is hoping Mercedes’ performances at the Singapore Grand Prix will “be sort of validation” of the steps they’ve taken to eradicate porpoising. Mercedes’ 2022 season, the first in the all-new ground effect aerodynamic era, has been hampered by porpoising or bouncing. The floor of the W13 took hit after hit in the first half of the season, Russell and his team-mate Lewis Hamilton left with neck and back pain as a result . However, Mercedes’ hard work seems to have paid off in recent races with the car barely bouncing. Singapore, though, will be the big test. Once again racing on a street circuit where the bumps exacerbate Mercedes’ porpoising, Russell is hoping this weekend will be the team’s best performance at a street track. “I think the factors in favour are the high downforce set-up, our car seems to work better on the higher downforce,” he said as per Autosport. “[Plus] our competitors, … [Read more...] about Why Singapore could be a key sign of progress for Mercedes
