Much like the first day of spring in Boston, the first day of summer movie season is a tough one to nail down. You may think spring has arrived early when greeted by a 70-degree day in early March, only for a snowstorm and weeks of bitter cold to change your mind. Similarly, one of the biggest blockbusters of the year, Marvel’s “Black Panther,” can come out on Feb. 16, only to be followed by more than a month of underperformers like “A Wrinkle in Time,” “Tomb Raider,” and “Pacific Rim Uprising.” With Chris Evans and the rest of the Marvel gang in “Avengers: Infinity War” breaking several box office records last weekend in a debut that saw the film earn $258 million domestically and a shade under $641 million worldwide, it’s safe to say that summer movie season has finally arrived. (The summer-like temperatures this week don’t hurt, either.) With that in mind — and in sticking with our … [Read more...] about 17 movies Bostonians should know about this summer
Tweet TweetIn the more romantic corner of the automotive news coverage for this year we’ve had the ongoing developments of an espionage crisis at Renault. The French company has suspended three of its managers, made accusations against China which they later on dropped and got most of the country’s secret service behind it. Not only have they been suspended (and later on fired) from their positions on the company’s electric vehicle technology but quite a case is being built against them. At this point we should note that no evidence has been produced against him and that he asked to be reinstated. Rochette’s lawyer reckons he has a solid case and should the former vice president of advanced engineering decide to … [Read more...] about One of Renault suspected spies plans to sue the company

We knew a Ford Mustang Bullitt was coming a while ago, most likely at the Detroit auto show next week. Now we know approximately when the first one will be sold too, thanks to a Barrett-Jackson auction listing. The folks over at Mustang6G.com found an online auction listing for a “special new Ford Mustang” to be sold Friday, January 19 in Scottsdale, AZ.This new Mustang is to be sold with 100 percent of the hammer price benefitting the Boys Republic charity. Auctioning cars for charity is a normal thing to do, but this specific charity is significant because it runs a school for troubled youths in Chino Hills, CA that Steve McQueen attended in 1946. Of course, McQueen was the man who piloted the original Dark Highland Green Mustang in the famous 1968 movie, Bullitt. This “coincidence” all but guarantees we’ll see the new Bullitt at the auction, if not at the Detroit auto show.An imminent introduction for the Bullitt doesn’t come as a surprise.
