Lance Stroll out of the Singapore Grand Prix in joint decision with Aston Martin
Lance Stroll will not line up on the Singapore Grand Prix grid having taken the decision “together” with Aston Martin to sit out the race. Stroll suffered a massive crash in Saturday’s qualifying at the Marina Bay circuit when the Canadian clipped the kerbs through the final corner and lost the rear of his AMR23. He speared into the outside wall at speed, his car almost airborne, before spinning back across the circuit. Lance Stroll is ‘still sore’ after his qualifying crash He was taken to the track’s medical centre where he was cleared of serious injury but on Sunday morning made the call with Aston Martin to sit out the race. The team statement read: “The team face a huge job repairing the car today and Lance is still sore following such a high impact. Lewis Hamilton unveils unusual light-up lid for Japanese Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton has taken it up a notch with his Japanese Grand Prix edition helmet which features a light-up visor. With drivers formerly restricted in the number of helmet designs that can be used throughout a season, that ruling was axed in time for the 2020 season, leading to an array of special edition helmets being run across the calendar. Lewis Hamilton unveils Japanese Grand Prix helmet Hamilton took to social media ahead of the race weekend at Suzuka to unveil the helmet he will be running on track, one of the likes we have not seen before. F1 results: FP3 timings from Japanese Grand Prix practice
Max Verstappen made it a clean sweep in Japanese Grand Prix practice as he saw off the McLarens to top FP3. Verstappen was forced to work hard for it, with McLaren at one stage threatening a one-two, but Verstappen found a whopping six-tenths to take P1 and put himself in prime position to push on for Japanese Grand Prix pole. But, with Norris and his McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri seemingly very much in the fight, Verstappen will not have it easy come qualifying. Norris set the early pace once the activity ramped up on the track following a slow start, clocking a 1:31.174, putting him seven-tenths up on McLaren team-mate Piastri and almost eight-tenths clear of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. Mercedes duo Lewis Hamilton and George Russell soon muscled their way into the top-three, but Norris’ buffer stood still at a mighty six-tenths. It was soon Verstappen’s turn to settle into his familiar P1 spot, but with his advantage standing at just two-tenths, Norris would have been … [Read more...] about F1 results: FP3 timings from Japanese Grand Prix practice

FIA admit Max Verstappen error at the Singapore Grand Prix
The FIA have reportedly accepted Max Verstappen should have been penalised for blocking in qualifying in Singapore with motorsport’s governing body making it clear to the teams that his reprimand cannot be used as a precedent going forward. On a wretched weekend for Verstappen at the Marina Bay circuit, the reigning World Champion not only found himself out of qualifying in Q2, bumped out by AlphaTauri rookie Liam Lawson, but facing three stewards’ hearings. One related to being slow to leave the pits and holding up his rivals while the other two were for impeding, one of which appeared to be a slam dunk case involving Yuki Tsunoda. FIA steward Matteo Perini admits they made a mistake And yet the stewards, mitigating that Red Bull hadn’t given the driver enough information over the radio, only gave Verstappen a reprimand for that . Red Bull were fined €5000. Rivals and pundits alike were perplexed with even Verstappen conceding he had blocked Tsunoda. “That was not … [Read more...] about FIA admit Max Verstappen error at the Singapore Grand Prix
