A sad day for the Australian V8 tradition. The last affordable V8 powered sedan has left Australian shores. Due to growing demand in America for Hemi-powered Chargers, Challengers, and more, as well as supply chain disruption, Chrysler elected to stop selling the 300 SRT sedan in Australia. This ends a decade's long tradition of affordable V8 powered sedans available for Australian customers who will now have to turn to the used market for their V8 fix.The last couple of years have been tough for Australian V8 enthusiasts who have had to endure the closure of Holden, the end of the Ford Falcon, and now the loss of the Chrysler 300 SRT. It seems the war against affordable V8s is all but over leaving enthusiasts to pick through used car auctions and read about the glory days in old magazines. The Chrysler 300 SRT was certainly not the most exciting affordable V8-powered sedan, but at least it was a viable option. Now, due to increased demand from the American … [Read more...] about Chrysler Kills The 300 SRT In Australia To Quench America’s V8 Thirst

Peugeot Back In The Pickup Truck Game With The New… ‘Pick Up’
The creatively named workhorse is based on a part Japanese part Chinese pickup. Peugeot has a new pickup truck to call its own after a three-year hiatus following the demise of the 207-based Hoggar. While the latter was for South America, the new model simply dubbed “Pick Up” is going to be available exclusively in Africa and will essentially be Peugeot’s version of the Zhengzhou Nissan Auto (ZNA) Rich New. Pictured below, the model is a Dongfeng-built pickup truck derived from a first-generation Frontier/Navara (D22) introduced way back in 1997. The Peugeot Pick Up’s roots are pretty obvious as the changes are limited to the different grille and slightly modified graphics of the headlights and taillights. Needless to say, the lion badge has replaced Dongfeng’s logo. In a bid to spice things up a bit, the large "Peugeot" lettering at the back is a nod to the 404 and 504 pickups. Photos of the interior have not been released, but the ones showing the ZNA Rich New should paint … [Read more...] about Peugeot Back In The Pickup Truck Game With The New… ‘Pick Up’
Ogier pushing Citroen for fundamental changes
The Frenchman, who has won two of the first three rounds of this year’s series, pressed the team to run Reiger dampers – the same manufacturer he used at M-Sport last season – on the year’s opening gravel round in Mexico. Read Also: Mexico WRC: Ogier wins, Tanak beats Evans to second Finding a solution to C3 WRC’s suspension set-up on gravel is reckoned to be one of the final pieces of the jigsaw following an overhaul of the chassis, which included significant front and rear geometry work last season. Ogier suffered a transmission issue with the C3 WRC on the second day in Mexico, but otherwise team principal Pierre Budar said work on the car was focused on fine-tuning dampers in the search for grip during the Leon-based rally. Without being specific in his requests from the team, Ogier told Motorsport.com he wants more from Citroen. “Like always, I’m pushing – you can count on that,” he said. “Sure, it’s a good start [to the year], but in Mexico there were a … [Read more...] about Ogier pushing Citroen for fundamental changes
Can Meeke revive British interest in rallying?
An agonising 13-year wait for a British winner in the WRC finally came to an end on Sunday. Kris Meeke responded to his critics in emphatic style with victory in Argentina, a car-breaker of a rally in which just about every leading runner experienced trouble of one kind or another. It was precisely the sort of event where the 35-year-old had ample opportunity to live up to his reputation and squander the healthy lead his rivals' woes had gifted him, but British rally fans were spared heartbreak as Meeke held on to win by 18 seconds from Citroen teammate Mads Ostberg. The Ulsterman's triumph was a timely one, as the pressure had been mounting just to bank a solid result in South America following crashes in each of the first three events of the season. But, while the importance of Meeke's victory for his career can barely be overstated, its impact on the currently moribund level of interest in rallying in the UK is an altogether different question. The good old days … [Read more...] about Can Meeke revive British interest in rallying?
2022 Kia K8 Official Images Show Fancy New Sedan To Replace Cadenza
It's bigger and more sophisticated than the outgoing K7 / Cadenza. As we originally reported in November 2020, Kia is promoting the K7 (Cadenza in North America) to the K8 badge to signal the large sedan’s push upmarket. Speaking of size, the “sleek and futuristic sports sedan” as described by the South Korean brand is bigger than before, now stretching at a generous 5,015 mm (197.4 inches). The K8 is Kia’s first product reveal following the company’s recent rebranding that included an updated corporate logo. Say what you will about the design, but you have to admit it’s distinctive and represents a vast departure from the K7 / Cadenza , which wasn’t that old, having been launched less than five years ago. The K8 has a lot going for it in terms of design, from the fastback-esque roofline to the frameless “tiger nose” front grille. The latter has an interesting diamond-like lattice pattern and just as special are the cutouts in the front bumper for … [Read more...] about 2022 Kia K8 Official Images Show Fancy New Sedan To Replace Cadenza
