Prom Meesawat competes in a tournament this month. (Asian tour x photo) CHEONAN: Thai star Jazz Janewattananond famously won the Kolon Korea Open in 2019, during his four-victory season when he topped the Asian Tour Order of Merit, but apart from that, Woo Jeong Hills Country Club, the event's regular home since 2003, has been a notoriously tough nut to crack for the best non-Koreans on the circuit. In the two editions of the Korea Open since the Asian Tour started co-sanctioning the event again in 2018, after a hiatus since 2008 and a two-year break during the Covid-19 pandemic, only six non-Korean born players have finished in the top 10, and nine inside the top 20. One of these players is Thailand's Prom Meesawat -- a proven winner in South Korea having claimed the SK Telecom Open at Sky 72 in Incheon back in 2006. Prom, who finished tied 10th at Woo Jeong Hills in 2019, thinks he knows why playing in Korea is more difficult than other countries. See Ford Electric SuperVan Silently Blast Up The Hill At Goodwood
Listen to this article Ford isn't wasting time with its new electric SuperVan. Shortly after releasing information and photos of the bonkers van-bodied race car, it made a fast ascent up the hill at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed. We're patiently awaiting an official video clip to embed directly into this article, but for now, you can see the space-age van aggressively tackle the historic hill climb in Goodwood's Twitter post, which we do have embedded right here. The new SuperVan is loosely based on the Ford E-Transit, and we do mean loosely . You won't find a roll cage in the production model, and the aerodynamics of this racing van take a big bite out of its cargo-carrying capability. You can thank the Ford GT for that, as the SuperVan borrows some of the supercar's aero trickery for extra downforce. And it's needed, because underneath the skin you'll find four electric motors that generate a combined output of 1,973 horsepower. That's an even 2,000 in metric … [Read more...] about See Ford Electric SuperVan Silently Blast Up The Hill At Goodwood
Prodrive P25 Races Up The Goodwood Hill Making Sweet Flat-Four Boxer Music
Listen to this article A veritable rally icon, the Subaru Impreza 22B is getting a makeover as Prodrive has unveiled the P25 as a tribute to the legend. The ultra-limited special edition celebrated its dynamic debut this week at the Goodwood Festival of Speed where the restomod went up the famous hill to the delight of the public. Underneath the familiar skin is an original two-door WRX chassis, but everything else has been revamped. The flat-four boxer engine sounds great, and it pushes out over 400 horsepower and an ample 600 Newton-meters (443 pound-feet) of torque in a car that weighs less than 1,200 kilograms (2,645 pounds). The hill climb course was obviously too short to exploit the P25's full capabilities, but Prodrive does say its road-legal WRC machine has supercar levels of acceleration by sprinting to 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than three and a half seconds. Prodrive P25 3 Photos Most of the body … [Read more...] about Prodrive P25 Races Up The Goodwood Hill Making Sweet Flat-Four Boxer Music
Watch Electric Spéirling Almost Break Goodwood’s Hill Climb Record
Listen to this article Just last week, British EV brand McMurtry Automotive announced that it's returning to Goodwood to try and break the standing hill climb record set by the Volkswagen I.D. R. The contender? A peculiar-looking mini Batmobile called the Spéirling. In a valiant attempt during the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the adorably short electric fan car went near the electric VW race car's time but ultimately failed to break the record. The video atop this page shows the McMurtry Spéirling completing the famous hills of Goodwood in 41.29 seconds. Gallery: McMurtry Spéirling At Goodwood 4 Photos Of note, the Volkswagen I.D. R has set the Goodwood Festival of Speed ablaze in 2019 by completing the hill climb in 39.90 seconds with Romain Dumas at the helm. It broke its own record that was clocked in the previous year and ultimately etched its name in the history books by setting an … [Read more...] about Watch Electric Spéirling Almost Break Goodwood’s Hill Climb Record
‘The Black Phone’ is a ghost story with one great twist
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 5 File "The Black Phone" under ghost stories, but not the kind you might expect. Given the horror-movie résumé of filmmaker Scott Derrickson ("The Exorcism of Emily Rose," "Sinister," "Deliver Us From Evil"), what you'd expect is a touch of the supernatural - subcategory: malevolent. And believe me, you'll get some phantasms here. But the boogeyman in this 1978-set, fiendishly shivery thriller - which Derrickson directed and co-wrote, with C. Robert Cargill, from a short story by Joe Hill, the son of Stephen King - is 100% flesh and blood. And the poltergeist activity? Well, a preview audience erupted in applause (yes, applause) at the contributions of this stylish, thoroughly satisfying B-movie's spectral supporting cast. The bad guy here is known simply as the Grabber, a child-snatching psychopath of the sort found in urban legend and, unfortunately, on the front pages of … [Read more...] about ‘The Black Phone’ is a ghost story with one great twist

Daniel Snyder conducted ‘shadow investigation’ of accusers, panel finds
WASHINGTON - Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder and members of his legal team conducted a "shadow investigation" and compiled a "dossier" targeting former team employees, their attorneys and journalists in an attempt to discredit his accusers and shift blame following allegations of widespread misconduct in the team's workplace, according to the findings of the investigation conducted by the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. Moreover, Snyder hired private investigators and lawyers to unearth inappropriate emails and evidence aimed at convincing the NFL and Beth Wilkinson, who was conducting a league-sponsored investigation into sexual harassment in the organization, that Snyder's longtime team president Bruce Allen was primarily responsible for any workplace issues. The preliminary findings were detailed in a 29-page memo from Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., the committee's chairwoman, to fellow committee members ahead of Wednesday's Capitol Hill hearing on the … [Read more...] about Daniel Snyder conducted ‘shadow investigation’ of accusers, panel finds
New Houston restaurant boasts one of the largest vegan sushi menus in the country
In recent years, Houston has had quite the uptick in sushi bar openings, but few appeal to vegan diners the way Blue Sushi Sake Grill , now open at M-K-T Heights, does. The popular concept from the Nebraska-based Flagship Restaurant Group touts a total of 30 restaurants across 11 states, with Houston's M-K-T outpost serving as its 19th Blue Sushi location. Blue Sushi places a hefty spotlight on responsibly sourced seafood and has one of the largest plant-based menus in the country. For Flagship co-owners Tony Gentile and Anthony Hitchcock—Houston natives who began their friendship more than 20 years ago while at the University of Houston's Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management—it was an ideology that was important from the start. "Sustainability was something we always had a passion for," Gentile said, noting he and his corporate chef locked themselves in a room and discussed supply chain challenges until they could make it work. "We were doing the … [Read more...] about New Houston restaurant boasts one of the largest vegan sushi menus in the country
Burger Friday: City Acre Brewing
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 47 Eight miles up the Eastex Freeway from downtown Houston, City Acre Brewing lolls amid garden plots and picnic tables beneath spreading, venerable pecans. Inside a red metal shed with roll-up garage doors lurks a classic brewpub, selling beer brewed on the premises to go with a menu geared to match. If last week’s Burger Friday subject — the new beer garden at St. Arnold Brewing Company —was all about a grand new urban space, City Acre is about one of those idiosyncratic, semi-rural pockets that lurk in the Houston landscape. It’s a beer garden writ small and personal. And they make a burger you’ll want to mark off on your … [Read more...] about Burger Friday: City Acre Brewing
