The syndicated daytime television show "Dr. Phil" is ending after 21 seasons, sunsetting a decades-long mainstay in the tabloid talk show genre that has become a cultural touchstone for viral "clapbacks" between its titular host and his guests, as well as popular cringe-inducing internet memes. Phil McGraw, the show's host, "is choosing to exit" for "new ventures," a news release from CBS Media Ventures said Tuesday. It added that the show will air original episodes through the current 2022-2023 television season, and that McGraw will pursue a "strategic prime-time partnership" aimed at expanding his audience in early 2024. "While his show may be ending after 21 years, I'm happy to say our relationship is not," Steve LoCascio, president of CBS Media Ventures, said in the release. See The Electric Car Nissan Wants To Drive 17,000 Miles From Pole To Pole
Nissan’s new electric vehicle is about to go on an epic adventure. The automaker today revealed the modified Ariya that will make the 17,000-mile trek from the North Pole to the South Pole that starts later this year. It’s been beefed up for the trip, but the company kept the mods to a minimum while showcasing its battery-electric powertrain. The biggest upgrades are its most noticeable – the suspension and tires. Nissan gave the electric crossover a beefier suspension and chunky 39-inch BF Goodrich tires, widening the fenders to accommodate the modified gear. On top, the automaker installed a roof-mounted utility unit that houses a deployable drone. Inside, the automaker integrated an espresso machine to make the mornings out in the wilderness a bit more manageable. Medium gets help from Twilight Zone for 3-D episode
LOS ANGELES -- Reaching beyond the grave, and The Twilight Zone , to hype one of its hits for this month's ratings "sweep," NBC has enlisted the late Rod Serling to introduce a 3-D episode of its supernatural drama Medium . The Nov. 21 broadcast of Medium , starring Patricia Arquette as a psychic crime-solver, will feature several spooky three-dimensional effects, and the network is distributing millions of 3-D glasses, most of them through TV Guide magazine, ahead of the episode. The most novel element of the broadcast for those viewers without glasses, perhaps, will be the 45-second opening sequence in which Sterling is "reanimated" by altering a film clip from The Twilight Zone , the often-creepy sci-fi anthology he hosted on CBS during the 1960s. "He basically explains to people about the glasses, when to put them on, and reassures people who don't have them that they'll be able to enjoy the episode," Executive Producer Glenn Gordon Caron said Wednesday. … [Read more...] about Medium gets help from Twilight Zone for 3-D episode

Tlaquepaque Marketplace revamps East End
On a down-at-the-heels strip of Telephone Road off the East End's Harrisburg corridor, the Tlaquepaque Marketplace bursts into view like an exotic flower in the desert. Colors assault the eyes: Dusty orange, bright fuchsia, turquoise — all the hues favored by Mexican villages and startling against the sleek downtown skyline that looms to the west. Built in Mexican Colonial style, the marketplace is the vision of Bolivian-born architect Julio del Carpio , whose projects are part of an ongoing renaissance in this historic but gritty community. A crackhouse until recently stood across the way. Now a snow-cone vendor occupies the cleared but shaggy lot. Improvements come in increments. "I believe in grabbing old buildings that most people would probably demolish and making something original out of them," del Carpio says. In the 2000 Census, Hispanics surpassed whites and blacks to become the dominant population group in Houston. But while more than 38 percent of city … [Read more...] about Tlaquepaque Marketplace revamps East End
Acura aces hope Rolex 24 1-2 changes Honda’s Le Mans outlook
Listen to this article The Acura ARX-06, which won on its competition debut in last weekend's IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, will be confined to North America for 2023 with parent brand Honda yet to give the go-ahead for the car to be raced in the FIA World Endurance Championship. A spokesperson for Honda in Japan told Motorsport.com late last year that nothing had been decided about a potential WEC or Le Mans entry in 2024, while admitting such a venture was an "option for the future". Meyer Shank Racing driver Blomqvist believes that the competitiveness shown by the ARX-06 in Daytona could shift the dial for Honda's bosses. "I think it will give confidence to Honda and the decision-makers to give it a go," Blomqvist, who secured victory alongside Colin Braun , Helio Castroneves and Simon Pagenaud , told Motorsport.com. "I think they were a bit nervous about going there and not being able to fight for victory, but they’ve got to pat … [Read more...] about Acura aces hope Rolex 24 1-2 changes Honda’s Le Mans outlook
