Charlie Day: Always Sunny in Philadelphia Creator Says You Shouldn’t Just ‘Do What Makes You Happy’
When you think "bearer of wisdom," actor Charlie Day probably isn't the first name that comes to mind. The creator and star of the popular TV series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a professional goof but is more recently known for his work in Jason Orley's romantic comedy, I Want You Back, steaming on Amazon Prime Video. Written by co-screenwriters Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger and working with Jenny Slate, Gina Rodriguez, Scott Eastwood, and Manny Jacinto on the project, Charles Day surprised critics with his dimensional performance. Back in 2014, the Monsters University actor addressed graduates at his alma mater Merrimack College and the filmmaker had some very interesting advice for the students. While acknowledging that he's no Steve Jobs - "I don't know how my computer works; I don't even know how my toaster works!" he told the audience -- Day had some genuine lessons to Merrimack College grads nonetheless. He spoke about the time, fresh out of college when … [Read more...] about Charlie Day: Always Sunny in Philadelphia Creator Says You Shouldn’t Just ‘Do What Makes You Happy’
WRC Portugal: Loeb overhauls Evans to hold slender lead
Listen to this article The nine-time world champion, returning to the championship with M-Sport, produced a blistering performance to win Stage 4 and shoot from seventh overall into a 0.5s lead over Toyota's Evans. Evans had emerged as the man to beat on Friday morning after winning the first two stages to leapfrog Thierry Neuville , who started the day as the rally leader after winning Thursday night's super special. Despite an unfavourable road position, Hyundai's Neuville ended the loop in third, 3.3s adrift and ahead of teammate Ott Tanak , while championship leader Kalle Rovanpera coped admirably with opening the road to end the morning fifth. Eight-time champion Sebastien Ogier was out of sorts in his GR Yaris, and could only complete the loop in sixth, 6.7s shy of Loeb. The first gravel stage of the 2022 season belonged to Evans who produced a blistering pace on the Lousa 12.03km test. After topping Thursday's shakedown on gravel, he was again … [Read more...] about WRC Portugal: Loeb overhauls Evans to hold slender lead
The epic Loeb battle that ignited Ogier’s WRC career
Listen to this article "I have a new rival now." Those were the words uttered by then six-time world champion Sebastien Loeb in 2010 after losing a hard-fought Rally Portugal duel to Sebastien Ogier - as the young pretender to the World Rally Championship throne claimed a breakthrough maiden victory. It was a premonition as accurate as Loeb's precision behind the wheel that would help the Frenchman record a career nine world titles and 80 rally wins to date. Portugal 2010 marked the emergence of a new world order and challenger for Loeb. It was the precursor for several intense and sometimes controversial duels, until Loeb decided to bow out as a full-time WRC driver following his ninth title-winning campaign in 2012. Twelve years and a few battle scars later, Loeb and Ogier remain perhaps the two most revered names in the WRC. Ogier picked up the WRC baton previously held by Loeb at the end of 2012 to ensure the Sebastien dominance continued, winning eight of the … [Read more...] about The epic Loeb battle that ignited Ogier’s WRC career
WRC Portugal: Evans leads Rovanpera after brutal Friday
Listen to this article Evans avoided a spate of punctures, technical issues and accidents that affected many of his rivals across the day’s surprisingly rough eight gravel stage. The Welshman claimed four stage wins, winning the final head-to-head super special to lead Rovanpera by 13.6s, with Hyundai’s Dani Sordo third, 44.4s adrift. Evans blitzed the first two stages to grab the lead before losing the advantage to M-Sport’s Sebastien Loeb, after the Frenchman’s victory on Stage 4 put the nine-time world champion into a 0.5s lead. However, Loeb’s hopes of a second victory of the season, following his Monte Carlo triumph in January, came to an end, courtesy of a rare driver error on the afternoon’s first test. The M-Sport driver, contesting only selected rounds this year, misjudged a left hander resulting in his Puma sliding into a wall, causing terminal damage to the right rear suspension, ending his his day early. This allowed Evans to reclaim the lead which … [Read more...] about WRC Portugal: Evans leads Rovanpera after brutal Friday
Hamilton: ‘Not the quickest but we’re on our way’
Lewis Hamilton said he thought Mercedes were “on their way” following a strong Friday showing from the reigning Constructors’ champions at the Spanish Grand Prix. Mercedes arrived in Barcelona with a car that had four upgrades on it in an attempt to turn the tide on a disastrous 2022 season so far. The team finally seem to have gone some way to solving the porpoising issue that has so far hampered them, and were able to lower the car’s ride height which in turn improved its speed. Speaking after he finished P3 in FP2 with his team-mate George Russell in P2, Hamilton conceded they were still not the quickest but he believed the team were “on our way”. “Super-happy with the progress so a big, big, big, big thank you to everyone back at the factory for not giving up and continuing to push,” Hamilton told reporters post-FP2. “We are not the quickest but I think we’re on our way. “It’s the first time we’ve driven down the straight without bouncing. We still have … [Read more...] about Hamilton: ‘Not the quickest but we’re on our way’
F1: Verstappen wants second DRS zone added to Imola · RaceFans
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has called for a second DRS zone to be introduced at Imola to encourage overtaking at the track which is holding the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix this weekend. Advert | Become a Supporter & go ad-free Drivers can only use their Drag Reduction System once per lap along the pit straight. This zone, which has been extended for F1’s return, leads from the high-speed final corner of track down to the first braking zone at the second corner, Tamburello. But Verstappen, who spent much of last year’s race trying to overtake Valtteri Bottas , expects it will still be “super hard” to overtake even when the longer DRS zone is used. The activation zone lasts almost a kilometre on a track which is 4.9km long. The detection point is positioned at the end of another straight which leads to the Rivazza left-handers towards the end of the lap, another favoured overtaking place. Verstappen believes this would be a good spot for another DRS zone. “We can … [Read more...] about F1: Verstappen wants second DRS zone added to Imola · RaceFans
Ogier in disbelief over puncture exit from Rally Portugal
Listen to this article The eight-time world champion’s hopes of recording a record sixth career Portugal victory ended on Friday afternoon after picking up a pair of punctures in consecutive stages. Ogier suffered a front left failure on Stage 6 when occupying third, only 4.8s behind leader Elfyn Evans . It dropped the Frenchman, contesting a partial World Rally Championship season this year, to 11th in standings, after losing two minutes to change the wheel. The Toyota driver admitted he’d driven with extra care and was astonished to have suffered a failure, initially believing the car's puncture alarm had produced a false reading. On the following stage Ogier suffered another puncture and after electing not take two spares the puncture resulted in retirement. He is set to return on Saturday under restart rules. Ogier wasn’t the only driver to suffer issues with the new upgraded Pirelli tyres as eight failures were recorded among the Rally1 competitors across a … [Read more...] about Ogier in disbelief over puncture exit from Rally Portugal
