F1 teams have ‘issues’ with ‘personal style of leadership of Mohammed Ben Sulayem’

February 2, 2023 by www.planetf1.com Leave a Comment

A number of different F1 teams reportedly have “issues” with the leadership style of FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem. Ben Sulayem took to Twitter last month to openly question a reported Saudi Arabian backed takeover bid of the sport which was rumoured to be around the $20 billion mark. The Emirati said “the FIA as custodians of motorsport” had concerns over the bid and also said the figure was “inflated”. It was the latter that drew the ire of Liberty Media, who reportedly sent a letter to the FIA in which they described the comments of Ben Sulayem as a “major overstep”. There were even rumours that sport’s commercial arm was seeking to have the 61-year-old replaced despite only being a little over a year into his four-year term as president. Sky Sports are reporting that the strained relationship has been patched up and said that “positive conversations” had taken place between the two parties but that a significant number of “high ranking individuals” at the teams … [Read more...] about F1 teams have ‘issues’ with ‘personal style of leadership of Mohammed Ben Sulayem’

Watch Porsche 959 Prepare For Restoration By Losing Its Body Panels

February 1, 2023 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

Porsche recently unveiled the 911 Dakar as a high-riding, more rugged model that pays homage to the brand's success in the famous off-road rally. In a new video, the company showcases the restoration of a 959 from the 1986 running of the event. The team of Jacky Ickx and Claude Brasseur drove this 959 to a second-place finish in that year's rally. René Metge and Dominique Lemoine won that year in another 959, and a third entry scored sixth place. All three remain in the automaker's collection. Gallery: Porsche Preserves 959 Paris-Dakar 32 Photos Porsche Classic and the crew from the Porsche Heritage and Museum team handled the car's sympathetic refurbishment. They left the damage to the body because it tells the vehicle's story. However, all of the body panels came off to give the machine a mechanical restoration. "As this was not an everyday thing for us, it was … [Read more...] about Watch Porsche 959 Prepare For Restoration By Losing Its Body Panels

SsangYong Torres Spied With Electric Powertrain

February 1, 2023 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

SsangYong is surely not a popular name in North America. In other regions around the world, however, the brand is known for its SUVs and off-roaders and this company is now working on a new electric vehicle. These are the first spy photos showing a prototype of the Torres with an electric powertrain under the hood. The Torres is a mid-size SUV positioned between the Korando and Rexton featuring a more rugged exterior styling. Our spies caught a camouflaged prototype of the model with no exhaust pipes hinting at a battery-electric drive system. They even had the chance to snap the rear suspension of the vehicle and you can clearly see the battery package mounted under the floor. Gallery: SsangYong Torres EV first spy photos 15 Photos Unfortunately, we have no preliminary details regarding the SUV’s powertrain. SsangYong’s only production electric vehicle is the … [Read more...] about SsangYong Torres Spied With Electric Powertrain

Bizzarrini Giotto Debuts With Naturally Aspirated V12, Giugiaro Design

February 1, 2023 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

Bizzarrini was founded by former Ferrari and Alfa Romeo engineer Giotto Bizzarrini in the 1960s to build high-end, low-volume sports cars. Before going his own way, the talented man was directly involved in the development of iconic cars such as the 250 GTO and the 250 GT SWB "Breadvan." Not only that, he also worked on Lamborghini's first V12 engine through his engineering company Societa Autostar. He also worked for Iso Rivolta before founding Societa Prototipi Bizzarrini (Bizzarrini S.p.A) in 1964. Some 140 vehicles were assembled at a plant in Livorno before the company went bust in 1969. Fast forward to 2020, Pegasus Brands acquired the rights to the "Bizzarrini" name in a bid to revive the brand. The 5300GT was brought back to life as a continuation model for a limited production run of 24 units, and now, Bizzarrini is previewing an all-new car. BMW M5 With Supercharged 730-HP V10 Hits 210+ MPH On Autobahn

February 1, 2023 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

We’ve seen plenty of fast BMWs on the Autobahn. But we have never seen anything like this particular M5 from the E60 generation. This is by far not a stock car and it is actually a one-off we’ve written about back in 2009. During the golden years of WorldCarFans , this beast had the "most powerful engine" ever seen on a "road-legal BMW." These are not our words. They come from Lumma Design and G-Power , which are the two companies that cooperated to develop and build this monstrous M5. It is surely not the most powerful road-legal BMW anymore but is still quite an impressive machine. This new video from the TopSpeedGermany channel shows us the vehicle in action and we have to admit it is astonishingly quick. Gallery: LUMMA CLS 730 RS Released with G-POWER 730hp Bi-Supercharger System 18 Photos This is no ordinary M5. Under the hood, there’s a bi-compressor V10 … [Read more...] about BMW M5 With Supercharged 730-HP V10 Hits 210+ MPH On Autobahn

LUMMA CLS 730 RS Released with G-POWER 730hp Bi-Supercharger System

November 10, 2009 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

A German tuning/design company has just released a new performance tuning package for the BMW M5 E60.  Winterlingen-based Lumma Design has been working with the engineers at G-Power on an upgrade kit to the M-badged version of the 5-series. The result is a car that uses all 730 horsepower of a bi-compressor V10 to reach a maximum speed of over 367 km/h (228 mph).  The 700 Nm of torque helps the car go 0-100 km/h time in 4.2 seconds, reaching 200 km/h in just ten seconds.  300 km/h is achieved in 29.5 seconds. The companies claim this is the "most powerful engine" ever seen on a "road-legal BMW."  It is certainly a huge development over Lumma's CLR 500 RS released in 2007.  That car saw a "paltry" 560 horsepower. Certainly, these figures require non-stock brakes.  Lumma Design's own six-piston front, four-piston rear caliper brakes are used along with drilled 405mm discs.  Ultralight, three-piece forged 10x21 and 12Jx21 wheels at the nose and tail look great on the 45mm … [Read more...] about LUMMA CLS 730 RS Released with G-POWER 730hp Bi-Supercharger System

Radical SR10 XXR Debuts With Aero Upgrades, Carbon Fiber Bits

February 1, 2023 by www.motor1.com Leave a Comment

In late December last year, Radical unveiled the SR3 XXR as a more potent and hardcore version of one of its most popular products. Now, the British company also upgrades the SR10 to XXR specification by adding aerodynamic and other upgrades to this more powerful race car. The single-seater now features new front louvers, which should improve the aerodynamics at high speeds and have a positive effect on handling and cooling, according to Radical. Another novelty comes in the form of an LMP-inspired central fin, also seen on the SR3 XXR. New lightweight alloy wheels and new front DRL lights round off the improvements that come as standard equipment for this optimized version of the SR10. Optionally, customers can have a new carbon splitter and diffuser package, which brings additional weight reduction. Haas are now starting to embrace American roots with Andretti-Cadillac bid developing

February 1, 2023 by www.planetf1.com Leave a Comment

With a new American sponsor behind them, it seems Haas are finally embracing their American heritage. Although Haas have been established since 2014 and have always branded themselves as the ‘American team’ it is not until now that statement seems justified. Of course, their base is in North Carolina but with offices also in the UK and Maranello, it is understandable that some American fans have felt no great affinity towards their supposed team. Team boss Guenther Steiner has suggested moving the team away from their European bases and to America would actually set them back but there are other parts of their operation which suggest they are trying to appeal to their home country a bit more. For starters, out goes the Russian Urakali and in comes the American MoneyGram, a move that will have won them support in the US and it comes at a time when Formula 1 is exploding in the region including three races Stateside in 2023. Perhaps then it was once Andretti began threatening … [Read more...] about Haas are now starting to embrace American roots with Andretti-Cadillac bid developing

H-E-B employee’s petition for grocery chain to change sick leave gains traction

February 1, 2023 by www.chron.com Leave a Comment

An anonymous H-E-B employee is calling for company CEO Howard Butt, III to change the grocery store's sick day policy after alleging they were told to continue working after testing positive for COVID-19 on Jan. 1, 2023. "While I wasn't running a fever, I had terrible symptoms and by all means should have been encouraged to stay at home," the person posted in January, along with their petition . The employee states that the sick leave issue arose because of their testing positive for COVID, however the petition argues against the H-E-B's sick policy as a whole. The company's previous policy allowed employees to call out sick eight times over the span of a year. Now, employees could potentially lose their job if they call out more than three times in six months, according to a June 2022 article published by the San Antonio Report. H-E-B company policy uses a step system to track an employee's attendance, according to reporter Waylon Cunningham. Employees gain steps if they miss … [Read more...] about H-E-B employee’s petition for grocery chain to change sick leave gains traction
