But as high-profile projects such as “Get Out” and “A Quiet Place” — which just made $50 million domestically in its first weekend — reach mainstream audiences and awards voting bodies, we’ve been watching through our fingers this sudden widespread embrace of the macabre. In stark contrast, Erith in East London proved the most difficult place to get hold of a pink licence, with a pass rate of just 29.9 per cent. While the overall pass rate has held steady at around 47 per cent, there is a big discrepancy between the likelihood of passing in some areas of London compared with more rural areas such as Montrose. According to figures from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), of the 10 test centres with the highest pass rates, six were in Scotland, three were in England and one was in Wales. A recent study of insurance claims has revealed where in the UK classic cars are being targeted by thieves and where they are most likely to be involved in a motoring accident. The new research, commissioned by classic car insurance specialists ClassicLine, highlights the south-east of England, and London in particular, as locations where there appears to be the highest number of classic cars being stolen and in general showed a North-South divide in terms of thefts and accidents. Inside the M25, the south-east and south-west London postcodes have the highest amount of theft claims with ClassicLine Insurance.
