The Toyota Center is somewhat of a special space for Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors. The Houston Rockets ' home arena served as the site of some of Golden State's greatest battles in its dynastic era, namely a pair of high-intensity playoff clashes in 2018 and 2019. Green, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson each touched on the memories spurred by returning to Houston following the Warriors' 121-108 win at the Toyota Center on Monday night, a sentiment echoed by coach Steve Kerr. Curry provided the most succinct summation of Golden State's feelings when playing in Houston. "[Tonight] definitely brings back the memories of those back and forths," Curry said postgame. "Even though things are different, there's still a bit of charm about it, for sure." Green touched on more than memories when speaking with the media Monday. He gave extended thoughts on the Rockets' rebuild (which is now in its third season), providing pointed remarks on Houston's coaching staff, … [Read more...] about ‘Play the right way’: Draymond Green’s advice for young Rockets

Inside the movement to remake America’s city streets
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 5 The automobile has been a fixture of urban life for more than a century. Then came the coronavirus pandemic. Congested streets turned into pedestrian safe havens. Now many want to make those changes permanent - but it won't happen without a fight. Golden Gate Park is pretty serene, as far as battlefields go. On a recent, unusually sunny afternoon, the emerald of this city's green space was alive with people moving about its main thoroughfare. Cyclists buzzed past roller skaters, who shimmied around joggers, who lapped the many pedestrians. One runner paused to play a roadside piano. A father and son rallied on a ping pong table. Dogs abounded. The one constituency not present: cars. For some, this fact explained the peace. For others, it signaled defeat. Despite its bucolic environs, Golden Gate Park has emerged as one of the most high-profile fronts in a … [Read more...] about Inside the movement to remake America’s city streets
Warriors down Rockets 121-108 to snap 11-game road skid
HOUSTON (AP) — Stephen Curry scored 30 points and Klay Thompson added 29 as the Golden State Warriors snapped an 11-game road skid with a 121-108 win over the Houston Rockets on Monday night. The game was close most of the way before the Warriors used a 12-2 spurt early in the fourth quarter to pull away and hold on for their first win away from home since Jan. 30 at Oklahoma City. “It’s been a long time,” coach Steve Kerr said. “I don’t remember the last road game we won. It’s been a while.” When told that it had been almost three months since the Warriors last got a victory on the road, Kerr continued. This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 8 “Thanks,” he said. “That doesn’t make me feel any better. We needed it.” Added Thompson: “It’s nice to snap an ugly streak like that. That (was) gross.” The Rockets used an 11-2 run, led by six points from Kevin Porter Jr., later in the fourth … [Read more...] about Warriors down Rockets 121-108 to snap 11-game road skid
New year, same story for Rockets as Splash Brothers fuel blowout loss
The James Harden era in Houston may feel like a distant memory for Rockets ' fans, but the team's main rival in Harden's tenure is still rolling along as the 2022-23 season comes to a close. The more things change at the Toyota Center, the more they stay the same for Stephen Curry and the Warriors. It hasn't exactly been business as usual for Curry and the Warriors this season. Golden State's title defense is on relatively rocky ground even after Monday's 121-108 win over the hapless Rockets, with the defending champions now sporting an ugly road record of 7–29. But Monday's return to Houston helped the Warriors look largely like their dynastic selves. Curry led all scorers with 30 points, Klay Thompson added 29, and a late surge Golden State made all look right in the Bay Area. For Warriors coach Steve Kerr, returning to the Toyota Center brings a bit of a spark for his veteran group. "This is a great reminder every time we come to the Toyota Center of some amazing battles with … [Read more...] about New year, same story for Rockets as Splash Brothers fuel blowout loss
Land Rover Defender Chief Engineer Wants Pickup Version
The idea of a pickup truck based on the new Land Rover Defender isn’t exactly new as we’ve heard executives from the company talk about it on a number of occasions. There have been hardly any solid signs that one is actually under development but the Defender’s chief engineer recently spoke to media representatives and claimed this is indeed a very good idea. The model hasn’t been given the green light yet, however. “It’s something that I would personally like to do because I think the Defender brand would lend itself to a ute very much so. And we’ve seen that in the history of Defender in particular,” Stuart Frith, chief engineer for the Land Rover Defender, told Drive. Unfortunately, Frith said a Defender truck (or a ute as they call them in Australia) isn’t something the British automaker is currently planning. 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 First Drive Review: Meet One Of America’s Best EVs
I went into the launch of the new 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 ready to be mildly disappointed. I thought it’d be something of an afterthought, just the normally gas-powered GV70 crossover with batteries. And we know that in 2023, EVs designed to be EVs from the ground up tend to perform better than cars adapted for electric power after the fact. I also didn’t understand why Hyundai’s luxury division would do this since it already has an outstanding electric compact crossover in the Genesis GV60 . I figured the Electrified GV70 , which is built in Alabama , was a fast-tracked battery-swap job just to take advantage of the new tax credits , which require EVs to be assembled in North America. The Korean-built GV60 doesn’t qualify. Folks, when I’m wrong, I’m wrong. The Electrified GV70 is a stellar addition to the brand’s growing portfolio of EVs , and there are even some ways that it outclasses the GV60 – not to mention a lot of other competitors in this space. … [Read more...] about 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 First Drive Review: Meet One Of America’s Best EVs
