Indian motorcycle manufacturer has unveiled the Concept KX motorcycle at EICMA 2018 in the Italian City of Milan. The new 838 cc Concept KX revealed at EICMA 2018 is a design study based on the 1938 Royal Enfield 1140 KX which was powered by 1140 cc V-Twin engine. Like the 1938 bike it is based on the Concept KX bike seen at EICMA 2018 is also powered by a V-Twin engine which displaces 838 cc and is the first V-Twin produced by Royal Enfield India. The 838 cc V-twin engine performance figures haven’t been released but it is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The grapevine suggests that it will produce about 90 PS, which is more than ample for a motorcycle with this capacity. The engine used in the concept was developed as part of the Eicher Motors partnership with Polaris Industries who are the parent company of Indian Motorcycles. Royal Enfield has just globally launched its all-new, twin cylinder engined motorcycles – the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. In the United States, the Interceptor 650 starts from US $ 5,799, and the Continental GT 650 starts from US $ 5,999, making these motorcycles just a few hundred dollars costlier than the Classic 500 ABS.Needless to say, this is super competitive pricing to say the least. Royal Enfield Bullet to get single channel ABS; Launch next month
Royal Enfield will soon offer ABS on its motorcycles, and no, the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 won’t be the first Enfields to get ABS. Instead, the Bullet 350 and 500 will be the first motorcycles from Royal Enfield to get ABS. According to a report on Car Blog India, the Bullet will get a single channel ABS. What this means is only the front wheel – which features a disc brake – will have ABS. While a single channel ABS is not as effective as a dual channel ABS (which works on both the wheels), it’s a lot better than not having ABS as at all. The Royal Enfield Bullet really needs ABS considering its heavy weight. The main reason why Royal Enfield is opting for a single channel ABS instead of a dual channel unit has to do with costs. As per a report from Motorcyclist, Royal Enfield is taking proactive steps to ensure the quality of its adventure motorcycle, the Royal Enfield Himalayan both in the domestic and in the international markets. The Royal Enfield Himalayan has been a controversial product for the cult motorcycle maker, with multiple instances of technical problems with the bike. The brand briefly stopped selling the motorcycle during the transition from BS-III to BS-IV emission norms. Later, Royal Enfield brought back the Himalayan with relatively better quality, BS-IV compliant engine with fuel injection.
