Petronas SRT unveils 2021 MotoGP livery with Rossi and Morbidelli
The 2021 season will be SRT’s third in the premier class, the Yamaha satellite team in its short tenure already a six-time race winner. Last year, Morbidelli won three times on his way to runner-up spot in the championship, and ended up just 13 points behind title winner Joan Mir. For 2021, SRT welcomes nine-time grand prix world champion Rossi to its ranks, after the Italian legend elected to extend his MotoGP career by another year at least. This is the first Rossi has been a Yamaha rider that he won’t race in its factory colours, but will remain a factory-contracted rider with full works support in 2021. The 2021 season will be Rossi’s 26th in grand prix racing and his 16th in MotoGP as a Yamaha rider. Despite his best efforts, Rossi hasn’t been able to bring his entire crew from the factory Yamaha team to SRT, with the Italian only able to keep crew chief David Munoz, data engineer Matteo Flamigni and rider coach Idalio Gavira. SRT “seemed more upset” than Yamaha at 2020 MotoGP title loss
Fabio Quartararo was Yamaha’s leading rider for much of the 2020 season, with his three victories keeping him in the lead of the championship until the Aragon Grand Prix when a front tyre pressure issue dropped him to a career-worst 18th. From that point, Quartararo’s title hopes quickly evaporated and he ended the campaign eighth in the standings. Yamaha’s hopes of the constructors’ championship were also severely affected by a loss of 50 points handed to it as punishment for running illegal engines at the season-opening Spanish GP – the Japanese marque losing out to Ducati by 17 points in the finale in Portugal. Asked about rumours of disharmony between SRT and Yamaha last year, Razali confirmed his team felt as if it was just a “paying customer” rather than a works-supported partner. But tensions have since been diffused as Yamaha “recognised” SRT’s concerns and a the first draft of a new proposal covering 2022-2026 has been tabled. “We have addressed that … [Read more...] about SRT “seemed more upset” than Yamaha at 2020 MotoGP title loss
2023 Honda CR-V Spied For The First Time, Looks Bigger
Caught from afar, the next-generation CR-V doesn't look so compact anymore. The fifth-generation Honda CR-V was unveiled towards the end of 2016 and got a facelift about three years later. Fast forward to March 2021, our spies have put their extra-long telephoto lens to good use by catching on camera from afar a prototype of the new crossover while undergoing handling tests at a facility somewhere in Europe. With this being only our first look at the sixth-gen CR-V, it's no wonder the prototype is covered in camouflage from front to rear. That said, we can't help but notice the crossover seems to have grown in size while the front and rear overhangs continue to be quite large. The overall design appears to be more angular and the hood seems longer and flatter than before.
