There's a lot to be seen here. Following the debut of the T50 supercar, many of our readers noted with exaltation that Gordon Murray basically created the McLaren F1 of the 2020s. His supercar is light, fast, powerful, and keeps things down to the basics. Oh, it even has the same seat layout as the legendary F1. It’s probably safe to say Murray is virtually obsessed with lightweight sports cars, and his personal collection more than proves that. Top Gear’s latest video takes a look at the amazing collection of the F1’s father, and the one-hour-long footage goes through a number of very interesting topics and vehicles. By the time the current 2.2-liter V6 twin-turbo regs expire at the end of the 2022 season, they will have served the NTT IndyCar Series for 11 seasons, with Chevrolet and Honda finding ever-smaller areas in which to improve and gain an edge. With displacement increasing to 2.4-liters, an increase in boost from the twinned BorgWarner turbos and the addition of a KERS hybrid unit, IndyCar is aiming to hit 900hp, and IndyCar president Jay Frye said recently that he expects the series to be “pushing” that figure – on road and street courses – soon into 2023. Keeping a close eye on what rival teams are up to is part of the game in Formula 1. It's why teams spend money on spy photographers to capture close-ups of other cars, and why there are rules limiting what techniques and technology – like 3D camera scans – are actually allowed. While teams try their best to keep their own designs secret – which is why you often see mechanics blocking off sections of the cars from rival teams on the grid or in the garages – there is one part of the race weekend where things are more open. In parc ferme after the race, the cars are held in an open space prior to post-event inspections, and there is little teams can do to keep prying eyes away. Although there is a gentleman's agreement that teams do not take close-up spy shots of cars there, there is nothing stopping drivers walking right up to the cars to take a peek themselves. Several times Sebastian Vettel has been witnessed checking out the fine details of a Mercedes, even pushing down … [Read more...] about Cable tip-off an example of ‘super spy’ Hamilton’s focus
