The Renault Espace has been on the market in its current iteration for just a year and a half, and now there appears to be a new update for the French MPV-turned-crossover. Caught by our spy photographers in northern Sweden, the forthcoming iteration of the Espace will gain a more noticeable facelift compared to the last outing. Revisions to the Espace include visual changes to its front and rear, though that may be the extent of the changes to the forthcoming update as the powertrain line-up has recently been updated to comprise the 1.8 litre turbocharged mill which also powers the Alpine A110, along with pair of diesels. In its most potent guise, the 1.8 litre turbo petrol-engined Espace does the 0-100 km/h run in 7.6 seconds, one second quicker compared to the 1.6 litre turbo it replaced. The trade-off is a slight hike in fuel consumption to 6.8 l/100 km, up from 6.2 l/100 km previously. We haven’t got close-up images of the development vehicle’s interior here, though … [Read more...] about SPYSHOTS: Renault Espace facelift spotted testing
[Read more...] about Renault Espace RS, un projet futur facilement réalisable à la française !
Unlike the usual motor show stand where carmakers display every piece of metal they have, Renault’s unique Paris 2014 “space dune” display had one undisputed star – the new Renault Espace. A school of colourful Twingos and the EOLAB concept aside (literally at the edges of the stand), it was all about the Espace, with several units of the MPV turned crossover sitting on little hills. The Espace was a pioneer of the MPV genre when it debuted 30 years ago, and the people mover has been a success over the decades for Renault, which shifted over 1.25 million units over four generations. But the big MPV is out of fashion now. According to IHS Automotive, European sales of big MPVs such as the Espace, Ford S-Max, Volkswagen Sharan and Mercedes-Benz V-Class, just to name a few, dropped 45% to 230,800 units in 2013. Renault sold just around 8,400 Espaces last year; something also to do with the MPV’s age no doubt. Many in the market for a big family car are … [Read more...] about Renault Espace at Paris 2014
Tweet TweetThe Renault Espace is quickly heading for a new facelift. For the moment the French company is giving us a taster of it though. We do expect the actual debut to take place at the Paris Motor Show and a better set of images and more details to turn up about quite a while before that, sometime in the beginning of July. A facelift felt timely except what Renault is previewing seems to be quite familiar, could they not have made “enough” changes? Even though the exterior is mildly refreshed for the first time in nearly nine years, let’s not forget that the Renault Espace has received a set of engine upgrades just two years ago. Some of the underpinnings were also updated and, of course, the clever interior hasn’t lost any of its IQ points. The Renault Espace will be as cavernous as ever and just as slow. More importantly, the van here will be one of the safest cars ever made. This facelifted model will be known as the 2013 Renault Espace. Contrary to what … [Read more...] about Renault Espace to soon get facelift
Tweet TweetThe all-new Renault Espace has been spied in some shots for the very first time, while the car was being put to some tests, in cold weather conditions. The French car maker Renault is on a constant development of fresh-new models, like the new Twingo, a better version of the Clio RS, believed to be the Gordini, and other models, among an all-new Espace. The 2015 Renault Espace comes with a more daring design, probably inspired from the Initiale Paris and R-Space concept cars, the vehicle also enhancing a sporty profile and a raked windscreen. The new-generation or Renault Espace will have the CFM1 modular platform, which will also serve the Megane models. The vehicle will have considerably reduced weight, as compared to the outgoing version, and the engine lineup will feature four-cylinder petrol and diesel turbocharged units. The 2015 Renault Espace will be officially presented at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, this autumn. No additional information and details are offered for … [Read more...] about New-Gen Renault Espace in Spied Shots
