2018 is finally drawing to a close and it has been quite an exciting year in the Indian car market. While Auto Expo 2018, saw the unveiling of quite a few new cars, it was the same old story in the mid-size sedan segment where the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Honda City battled it for the affection and wallets of customers. However, it was the Maruti Ciaz that ended up victorious in the sales charts over the past 11 months (December sales numbers will only arrive next year) edging out the Honda City by a mere 1,334 units (Ciaz – 40,084 vs City with 38,750). So just why did Indians buy the Maruti Ciaz this year? Let’s find out. Maruti Branding In India, the Maruti Suzuki name is immediately associated with reliable and cheap to run and maintain. Since the arrival of the SS80 Maruti 800 in the mid-1980s, the byword for cars in India has inevitably been Maruti Suzuki. With the Suzuki badge adorning its grille and rear end, the Ciaz has benefitted from the brand’s … [Read more...] about Superhit Mid-Size Sedan of 2018: Maruti Ciaz

Young voters register in droves for 2018 Michigan election
Kathleen Gray and David Jesse Detroit Free Press Published 10:11 AM EST Nov 5, 2018 Larissa Mickelson didn’t vote in the 2016 election, but she won’t repeat that mistake on Tuesday. The 22-year-old graduate student at Michigan State University regrets that absence from the 2016 presidential election, when Donald Trump’s path to the presidency was helped by a narrow 10,704-vote margin of victory in Michigan. “I don’t think my vote would have made a difference in (Trump) getting elected, but I would have felt better about myself having voted against him,” she said. “I’m definitely voting this year. I don’t want to have someone get in office and not like their decisions and know that I didn’t vote.” Gabriella Canu, a 21-year-old student at Oakland University from Shelby Township, voted for Trump in 2016, but isn’t sure whether she’ll head to the polls on Tuesday. “I think it’s very … [Read more...] about Young voters register in droves for 2018 Michigan election

Audi targets 800,000 electrified sales in 2025
Register for our free newsletterManufacturers setting yearly goals is common practice, and it’s no rare thing for them to do so a year or two in advance. Audi has taken that a bit of a step further, though – unveiling plans to sell 800,000 electrified cars in the year 2025. That’s no mean feat, especially for a brand that currently offers only two hybrid cars – with the all-electric e-tron SUV on the horizon – but it has an ambitious plan to reach that target: it aims to introduce at least one electrified variant of every car it offers by then, with more than 20 to be available. The e-tron SUV heading to market later in 2018 is the first step on Audi’s ‘Roadmap E’ electrification plan, with an e-tron Sportback to follow next year. After that, an Audi Sport e-tron GT is planned for 2020, along with an all-electric model in the premium compact segment. It’s not just its range that the German manufacturer plans to make environmentally … [Read more...] about Audi targets 800,000 electrified sales in 2025

The smart outfit makes you look like a smart driver too! LOL Whizz… went this car past me before slipping in and out of lanes and spaces barely enough to keep its both bumpers from being bumped off. “The highway is not the place for your bravado…” I wanted to shout after him, sleeves rolled up, windows rolled down. But that would be an offence by itself. So, I completed my unuttered sentence under my breath, like a true gentleman: “…Go karting fella!” To be precise, go unwind at the kart zone at Yas Marina. That’s the place for excitement, exhilaration, challenges and learning for anyone who loves driving on the edge. The good thing about the Yas track is that it combines a good deal of challenging bends with a general layout that is friendly to beginners as well. … [Read more...] about Twist. Turn. Tick. Tock.
