Christian Horner has responded to Lewis Hamilton’s claim that the RB19 is one of the most dominant cars in F1 history. Hamilton and fast cars have long been associated together given the seven-time World Champion’s history in the sport but it seems the 38-year-old believes the fastest car in recent memory belongs to a rival team, Red Bull. Following on from the RB18’s success, the RB19 has further increased the gap between Red Bull and the chasing field with the team securing consecutive one-twos at the opening two races this season. Daniel Ricciardo says he’s already feeling the benefit of spending time out of competing in Formula 1 and has begun considering how to return. This weekend he is attending his first grand prix back with the team that he left at the end of 2018. Back in the paddock for the first time this season, Daniel Ricciardo has revealed “the signs are pointing towards” a 2024 return to the Formula 1 grid. Ricciardo walked away from Formula 1 at the end of last season, the Honey Badger saying he was burnt out after two trying years with McLaren. While he was offered the chance at a Haas race seat, he decided instead to sit out the year and plot a potential 2024 return. That, though, would depend on where his head was at and whether or not retirement had got it hooks into him. Max Verstappen secured pole position for the Australian Grand Prix ahead of the two Mercedes of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton as Sergio Perez went off early in Q1. The Red Bull driver took half a second out of his own provisional pole time on his final run in Q3 to secure the top spot on the grid while the Mercedes drivers secured second and third with Fernando Alonso fourth. Perez will start last on the grid for tomorrow’s race, barring any penalties, after he skidded off track on his first push lap in Q1.
