We’ve seen the Model S P100D take on some very fast machines, but can it beat Lamborghini’s Huracan Performante a run for its money? The electric sedan has 588 HP and 920 lb-ft (1,247 Nm) of torque from its dual electric motors, which are channeled to the all-wheel drive system. Thus, it hits 60mph (96km/h) in a mere 2.28 seconds, while Tesla describes it as “the safest, quickest car on the road with industry-leading performance, range and storage”. It also has a range of up to 337mi (542km), and costs approximately $150,000. Its naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 delivers 631hp and 443lb-ft (600Nm) via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox to all four wheels. Helped by its massive electric power and instant torque, the flagship Tesla … [Read more...] about Tesla Model S P100D Challenges The Lamborghini Huracan Performante

Tweet TweetEven if the North American based Tesla carmaker has literally no competitors on the market with its wide range of extremely efficient electric vehicles, not even from BMW`s i3 or i8, the company didn’t rest on its laurels and has already released that long-expected electrified vehicle which comes with the highest battery pack ever built so far, and the longest mile range achieved yet. It is all about the newly announced Tesla Model S 100D, which comes, as the name suggests, with a massive 100 kWh battery, and an impressive mile range worth-mentioning in the Guinness Book of Records. The Tesla Model S 100D has also received a NEDC certification which basically records an official range of 632 km, way too more impressive than the stock P100D model, with 613 km. Performance wise, the Tesla Model S 100D is also mind-blowing, coming with the “D” electric motors (“Dual” electric motors), sending the power to all wheels, and covering the 0 to 100 km/h … [Read more...] about Tesla Model S 100D Breaks Cover, Comes with the Highest Battery Pack and Longest Mile Range
The Tesla Model S occupies an interesting position among "luxury" sedans and hatchbacks. It's far from the best-equipped vehicle compared to mid-size and full-size competitors from Audi, BMW, Jaguar, and Mercedes-Benz, but that doesn't seem to matter to its 200,000 or so buyers to date. The good looks, fast and silent performance, and the Supercharger fast-charging network remains a combination no other automaker has matched. DON'T MISS: Germans are coming for Tesla, paper says, so now it's 'interesting' (Oct 2016) It was clear more than three years ago the world's luxury automakers were preparing to take on Tesla, and now their plans are considerably more visible. Given China's intention of converting the largest new-vehicle market in the world entirely to sales of electric cars at some point in the future, those plans have also been accelerated several times. We will see long-range battery-electric vehicles in both sedan and crossover utility variants, but the Model … [Read more...] about Audi, BMW, Mercedes large electric luxury sedans to aim above Tesla Model S?
Tweet TweetAmerican electric car making specialist Tesla is riding the wave of happiness these days. They get so many reviews about how great their car is it’s almost unbelievable. Meantime however, there’s some new developments being spun around the car itself regarding its future as well as the present situation. Some of them are raising the bar for the development of the electric vehicle whereas one in particular could really hinder the company’s situation. Then there’s a software update they’re about to implement. This is a module which brings a sleep function to the car’s computers. By doing this, whenever you leave the car, the system is going into a latent stage where it uses much less energy to keep functioning. When the math gets done, some 8 miles of driving range per day when the car is not plugged in or used could be saved by the system. The US authorities meanwhile are looking into something not so pleasant and useful. It seems that the … [Read more...] about Tesla Model S gets new highs and new low
Back in October, we had the chance to get up close with the first two Tesla vehicles to be brought in to Malaysia via official channels – the exclusive preview of the vehicles, both rear-wheel drive Model S 85 versions offered not just a comprehensive photo gallery but also a chance to get an initial feel of the car, albeit in limited scope, given that the cars hadn’t been registered at that point. Last month, through a special arrangement, we were again invited to have another go with the car for a day, the road-going session offering a better insight into its character and workings in real-world conditions. A recap on timelines and perspective, for those still unaware of the unique manner in which Tesla vehicles are set to be deployed in the country. The two S 85s are essentially the lead elements of a programme initiated by Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia), one that will see Teslas being made available here through a leasing scheme. The main … [Read more...] about DRIVEN: Tesla Model S 85
