Mattia Binotto has admitted Ferrari are missing the drive to succeed injected into the team by Michael Schumacher during their golden era. Ferrari dominated Formula 1 during the first half-decade of this century, capturing six consecutive Constructors’ titles from 1999-2004 while Schumacher was the Drivers’ champion in the last five of those years. They completed the double again in 2007 with Kimi Raikkonen and retained the Constructors’ crown the year after, but this season is set to be the 14th in a row without a title going to the Scuderia. It all looked like being so different when Charles Leclerc won two of this campaign’s first three races and finished a close second in the other, but that hope has unravelled with Ferrari bedevilled by a series of mistakes and reliability problems. Of course, back at the turn of the millennium, the Italian giants had one of the all-time greats in Schumacher pushing the team on – and although Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are among the … [Read more...] about Ferrari concede they are ‘missing winning mentality of Michael Schumacher era’
Raikkonen drive to survive
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Albert Pujols seemed like a long shot in early August to reach 700 home runs, still more than a dozen swings from the hallowed mark and his power stroke all but gone. Or so it appeared. Now showing the pop of his youth in the final weeks of his career, the 42-year-old slugger got there with two long shots. Pujols hit his 700th home run, connecting for his second drive of the game and becoming the fourth player in major league history to make it to the milestone as the St. Louis Cardinals routed the Los Angeles Dodgers 11-0 Friday night. Pujols joined Barry Bonds (762 homers), Hank Aaron (755) and Babe Ruth (714) in one of baseball’s most exclusive clubs. This is a carousel. Note: This story contains spoilers for the new film "Don't Worry Darling." - - - In conversation with fellow actress-director Maggie Gyllenhaal for Interview magazine, Olivia Wilde asked, "You know the incels?" She was explaining to Gyllenhaal how she based a character in her latest film, "Don't Worry Darling," on Jordan Peterson, a professor-turned-proselytizer whom Wilde described as "this pseudointellectual hero to the incel community." Gyllenhaal responded with a concise, "No." She did not know the incels. But after a single viewing of "Don't Worry Darling" - an actual film released Friday, not just a vehicle for star-studded scandals - it would be hard to maintain this ignorance. Based on a story by Carey Van Dyke, Shane Van Dyke and screenwriter Katie Silberman, the thriller follows a 1950s housewife as she descends into what men around her decry as madness, despite it actually being a state of enlightenment. The dysfunction she becomes suspicious of in her once-perfect … [Read more...] about Let’s talk about the big reveal in ‘Don’t Worry Darling’

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — In the eyes of Belarus' foreign minister, the root cause of the war in Ukraine dates back 30 years ago to the end of the Cold War. At that time, there was no official treaty — just a “gentlemen’s agreement” that opened a path for the West to secure its domination, in part through the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Alliance, Vladimir Makei told the U.N. General Assembly on Saturday. “With its drive to enlarge NATO, the West has essentially trampled upon the indivisibility of security, the vital principle, which states that one party must not seek to achieve its own security at the expense of other parties,” he said. Makei said NATO and the West, in their quest to expand eastward, “overlooked the legitimate security interests of both Russia and Belarus." He described NATO’s involvement in what he called “illegal wars” in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya and Syria, “in addition to the Alliance’s attempts to encroach on some historical Eastern Slavic and … [Read more...] about Belarus foreign minister blames NATO, West for Ukraine war
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 5 The CIA Museum covers the intelligence agency's long history - from spying on the Soviets to the Argo mission in Iran - but the latest addition is practically ripped from the headlines: a model of Ayman al-Zawahiri's compound in Kabul used weeks earlier to plan the U.S. drone strike that killed the al-Qaeda leader. The model is part of the newly renovated exhibition hall located deep inside CIA headquarters in Langley, Va. Like the NSA's Wall of Spies museum in Bethesda, Md., the CIA Museum isn't open to the public. But it's not exactly top secret either, welcoming CIA employees, official guests, foreign partners, potential recruits - and, early on a Saturday morning, a handful of carefully observed reporters with old-school notepads and pens (electronics are banned). There are plenty of fun gadgets to see, like a polygraph machine in a briefcase and a communication … [Read more...] about The CIA renovated its museum. The public still can’t go see it.
