McLaren F1 driver — and Triple Crown hopeful — Fernando Alonso is getting into the esport game. The Spaniard has formed his own digital race team, and Gran Turismo Sport players will be some of the first to try out for the squad.More specifically, Alonso’s fellow countrymen will get the opportunity, as well as those from Portugal. LigaPlayStation is putting on the event, an esport organizer that gave away over 70,000€ in prizes last year. But this event’s prize is arguably far more valuable than another gaming console. You see, Alonso is building up FA Racing. Working alongside G2 Esports and Logitech, the team will eventually compete across multiple titles and platforms. Alonso actually formed FA Racing shortly after World’s Fastest Gamer concluded — which shouldn’t be too surprising given the McLaren/Logitech connection.“Every Formula One driver is a gamer at heart,” said Alonso when the team was officially announced … [Read more...] about Fernando Alonso Forms His Own Esport Racing Team, GT Sport Qualifiers Begin January 14

First as a turbocharged combination, Greathouse has pushed the 400U to a best of 4.81 at 148 mph. As the rules shifted in Ultra Street, he swapped over to a ProCharger F-1A-94 and continued his winning ways and has run as quick as 4.71 at 150 mph in competition and 4.70 at 150 mph in testing. This winter, the shop spent considerable time testing various camshaft profiles to be ready for the race season, which unofficially kicks off in late January with the U.S. Street … [Read more...] about Inside the Bennett Racing Engines 400U 1,600HP Small-Block Ford in Joel Greathouse’s 1990 Mustang

Recently we saw how a fettled NSX got on against a Tesla Model S P100D in a drag race, but what if you pitted the Honda against a rival a little closer to home? With two less wheels? We are - of course - talking about the CBR1000RR ‘Fireblade’ - Honda’s fastest bike, here testing its mettle against Honda’s fastest car. The latest version of the Firelade produces 189bhp from a 999cc inline-four, while the NSX doles out 571bhp from a V6 hybrid powertrain. So the car has three times the clout, but (rather obviously) a lot more weight - before sticking a rider on top, the Fireblade tips the scales at 196kg. Then again, this drag race from Car Wow was filmed on a particularly chilly day in winter, where the bike’s much smaller contact patch is going to be even more of an issue than normal. In other words, this isn’t the easiest one to call before watching. Place your bets, then hit play… … [Read more...] about What Happens When You Drag Race A Honda NSX Against A Fireblade?
