(BPT) - Solid hardwood floors are beautiful and timeless, adding value to any property. However, there's a misconception that real hardwood floors are difficult to maintain. The truth is that they can last for decades, as long you follow a few simple steps on a regular schedule. In fact, the time that goes into maintaining hardwood floors isn’t much more extensive than any other flooring material. The key is to practice regular care and cleaning for your hardwood to keep grit and dirt from scratching the wood. “Hardwood floors are special, and if properly taken care of, you can have a living, organic, premium floor that lasts for generations,” said Jen Meska, director of Merchandising for LL Flooring (formerly Lumber Liquidators). “But to keep them in top shape, it’s essential to have a regular cleaning schedule and be extra-mindful of any conditions in your home that could damage your floors.” Tools, tips, and tricks Meska says to start with the fundamental tools for caring … [Read more...] about Want your hardwood floors to last for generations? Listen to this article The kid who won a championship in his 2010 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series rookie season has now won five of the category’s eight 2017 races, earning his fifth victory of the year at the 30th annual Toyota Sonoma Nationals held this past weekend at Sonoma Raceway. Until this season, it was just LE, brother GT and father Gary Tonglet traveling from race to race by truck. “Last year we were working on the bike, driving to a lot of places… it was a lot of time involved,” Tonglet said. There was a lot of stress involved in making every race and earning his stripes as a firefighter, Tonglet’s weekday job. Toward the end of his 2016 championship season, Jerry Savoie of WAR realized the best way to amplify his NHRA program was to add another motorcycle. “My crew chief suggested it,” Savoie said of Timothy Kulungian, who makes the tuning decision for both motorcycles. “When you look at a lot of teams out here that are making eight runs in qualifying when we … [Read more...] about Will Tonglet earn his second NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle title?
Listen to this article For this year, the International Sporting Code contains a clause noting that “the general making and display of political, religious and personal statements or comments notably in violation of the general principle of neutrality promoted by the FIA under its statutes” would be a breach of the rules, with the added proviso of “unless previously approved in writing by the FIA for international competitions.” As the move happened during the winter break , few F1 drivers have commented in public on the matter so far. However, Horner has made it clear that he would prefer to allow drivers to speak up if they wish to do so. “Well, there's a couple of ways of looking at this,” he said when asked for his views on the restrictions. “I think, first of all, sports should never be used as a political tool. And I think that sport, in many ways, is there to obviously entertain, but to also have an element of escapism within it. “But certainly we at Red … [Read more...] about Horner: F1 drivers shouldn’t be “robots” amid ban on political statements

Actress Viola Davis is now a member of perhaps the most exclusive clubs in Hollywood: EGOT winners. The 57-year-old actress earned the coveted designation - gained by winning an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony - at the 65th Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony on Sunday when she took home her Grammy, the last piece of the puzzle, for performance of an audiobook. She won for reading her memoir "Finding Me." In doing so, she became the 18th person - and third Black woman - to ever achieve the honor. "I just EGOT!" Davis shouted as she accepted the award. Davis began her work in theater, but her career has spanned from Shondaland to the DC Comics universe (where she played Amanda Waller in both "Suicide Squad" films and "Black Adam"). Her journey to the EGOT started in earnest in 2001, when she won the Tony for best featured actress for her role as Tonya in the play "King Hedley II," which examined the life of Black Americans throughout the twentieth century. But she really … [Read more...] about Viola Davis becomes an EGOT winner at 2023 Grammy Awards
While Gulf Oil did not feature as prominently as perhaps expected on the Williams FW45 livery, there are plans in the works on something more substantial. After Gulf Oil and McLaren went their separate ways following the 2022 Formula 1 season, it was not long before rumours emerged about Gulf potentially returning to another old friend in the form of Williams. And that reunion was indeed confirmed as Williams took the covers off to reveal the livery of their F1 2023 challenger, the FW45. However, the Gulf branding and colours perhaps were not as prominent as many had expected, with the FW45 livery more an evolution of the FW44 design, rather than what we saw at McLaren as the wildly-popular 2021 Monaco GP Gulf livery served as inspiration for McLaren’s 2022 design. But Mike Jones, CEO of Gulf Oil International, revealed that the brand is very much open to repeating that one-off livery takeover in this new Williams partnership. Asked by Motorsport.com whether a full … [Read more...] about Gulf Oil provide fresh hope for future Williams FW45 livery takeover
Listen to this article It’s also the youngest of the professional categories and, while Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock each race 24 times during a season the runs from February through much of November, Pro Stock Motorcycle (PSM) has 16 races, starting at the third contest of the year, the Gatornationals at Gainesville, Fla. in March of each year. That doesn’t mean PSM is any less competitive than its three brethren, nor does it mean there’s less combativeness between competitors, all thinking the other guy gets a better break. No, PSM is a tense and terse battleground - and for the Countdown to the Championship, it races at the same six venues allocated to the other pro classes. The players in Pro Stock Motorcycle There are four primary motorcycle manufacturers vested in NHRA’s Pro Stock Motorcycle class: the long-lived Suzuki’s TL1000 and GSXR; Erik Buell’s XB12R, Victory’s Gunner and the Harley-Davidson V-Rod. Only two of these manufacturer’s motorcycles are … [Read more...] about Hines gunning for sixth Pro Stock Motorcycle title
