At a glance, this may seem like a very unmatched competition but the truth is the two cars are almost perfectly matched. You might think the winner is clear here but that’s not the case. Daniel Snyder conducted ‘shadow investigation’ of accusers, panel finds
WASHINGTON - Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder and members of his legal team conducted a "shadow investigation" and compiled a "dossier" targeting former team employees, their attorneys and journalists in an attempt to discredit his accusers and shift blame following allegations of widespread misconduct in the team's workplace, according to the findings of the investigation conducted by the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. Moreover, Snyder hired private investigators and lawyers to unearth inappropriate emails and evidence aimed at convincing the NFL and Beth Wilkinson, who was conducting a league-sponsored investigation into sexual harassment in the organization, that Snyder's longtime team president Bruce Allen was primarily responsible for any workplace issues. The preliminary findings were detailed in a 29-page memo from Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., the committee's chairwoman, to fellow committee members ahead of Wednesday's Capitol Hill hearing on the … [Read more...] about Daniel Snyder conducted ‘shadow investigation’ of accusers, panel finds
Conquering New Challenges in a Post-Pandemic Landscape
The Covid-19 pandemic completely changed how we handle business, particularly where corporate relocations are concerned. We've seen how digitalization has challenged the idea of locality reigning supreme, and we've seen how well some businesses can operate without physical offices. Does this mean that corporate relocation and physical expansion have fallen by the wayside? Relocation is a $14 billion industry , but the trends have shifted in a post-pandemic landscape . This means that companies need to reassess how they handle relocation, expansion and recruitment. Here are three things businesses must consider in this new world of remote and hybrid work. Related: Remote Work Is Here to Stay. It's Time to Update the Way You Lead. 1. Relocation and its importance (or lack thereof) Before, relocation and opening regional offices were something to work toward. Opening another location was a goal to be celebrated, and workers were often pleased to relocate and … [Read more...] about Conquering New Challenges in a Post-Pandemic Landscape
Wisconsin election investigator says he deleted records
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 5 MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The former Wisconsin Supreme Court justice hired to investigate President Joe Biden's victory in the battleground state testified Thursday that he routinely deleted records, and deactivated a personal email account, even after receiving open records requests. Michael Gableman testified in a court hearing about whether the person who hired him, Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, should face penalties after earlier being found in contempt for how he handled the records requests from American Oversight. Dane County Circuit Judge Valerie Bailey-Rihn decided against penalizing Vos for contempt, but said she would determine later whether to penalize Vos for how he handled open records requests. She set a hearing for July 28. Bailey-Rihn said that Gableman gave testimony that conflicted at times, but it was clear that he had destroyed records “that … [Read more...] about Wisconsin election investigator says he deleted records
Trump called Jan. 6 participants ‘smart,’ filmmaker says
WASHINGTON - Former president Donald Trump called those who participated in the demonstrations and Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021, "smart" during a defiant interview last spring, according to a documentary filmmaker who was granted extensive access to Trump and his family and is now cooperating with the House committee investigating the insurrection. "A very small portion as you know went down to the Capitol, and then a very small portion of them went in. But I will tell you, they were angry from the standpoint of what happened in the election because they're smart, and they see. And they saw what happened. I believe that that was a big part of what happened on Jan. 6," he said to British filmmaker Alex Holder in a March interview, according to a film clip reviewed by The Washington Post. Trump said it was a "sad day" but did not offer a repudiation of the events, according to the footage reviewed by The Washington Post and to the filmmaker. Holder met with Jan. 6 committee … [Read more...] about Trump called Jan. 6 participants ‘smart,’ filmmaker says
Staying busy is not always productive
Have you ever felt super busy but not very productive? Productivity sets your career in motion. However, it is easy to confuse being busy with being productive. Regardless of where you work, the truth is you will be judged on your effectiveness in what you produce. The average number of emails a person receives daily at work is close to 120. Yet emails that go unanswered and phone calls left to be returned are usually placed in the category of being busy. Receiving 120 emails does not reflect the time it takes for you to respond, and after a few days, it is easy to get overwhelmed with a workload. Staying busy sends a perception that you are bringing value to the company and, in some cases, can even feel like a professional badge of recognition that busy equals productivity. The two-fold problem with being busy is that it can be a state of mind and an increased workload. Knowing the difference between being busy and being productive can transform your career growth. Here are … [Read more...] about Staying busy is not always productive
Rep. Scott Perry played key role in promoting false claims of fraud
WASHINGTON - Of all the fantastical false claims of fraud and vote manipulation in the 2020 presidential election, "Italygate" was one of the most extreme. And Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., was at the heart of bringing it to Donald Trump's attention. This particular allegation of fraud centered around what one former Justice Department official described Thursday as an "absurd" claim: that an Italian defense contractor had conspired with senior CIA officials to use military satellites to flip votes from Trump to Joe Biden. As The Washington Post has reported, the theory was pushed by a Virginia horse-country socialite who once gave an extended television interview from a 22-bedroom mansion that she repeatedly described as her own, even though it was not. But as the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol demonstrated Thursday, Italygate also made its way to the highest levels of the U.S. government. The committee showed Dec. 31, 2020, text messages between … [Read more...] about Rep. Scott Perry played key role in promoting false claims of fraud
Rep. Louie Gohmert allegedly asked Trump for a pardon following insurrection
East Texas representative Louie Gohmert allegedly requested a pardon from then-President Donald Trump following the attempted insurrection on January 6, 2021, according to the taped deposition of an aide to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, played Thursday during a congressional hearing. Gohmert is among a group of at least six U.S. congress members who requested pardons for themselves from Trump around the time of the insurrection, according to documents and testimony presented during the House select committee’s fifth hearing on the January 6 attacks. “Mr. Gohmert asked for [a pardon] as well,” said Cassidy Hutchinson, who worked as an executive assistant for Meadows and had previously interned for Texas Senator Ted Cruz. Reps Matt Gaetz of Florida, Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Mo Brooks of Alabama, and Andy Biggs of Arizona all asked for personal pardons from Trump, according to Hutchinson’s sworn testimony. Gohmert quickly denied he ever requested the … [Read more...] about Rep. Louie Gohmert allegedly asked Trump for a pardon following insurrection
