Listen to this article We know the new Kia EV6 is fast even if it’s not in the range-topping GT trim. Like nearly every modern electric vehicle, the South Korean hatchback crossover mashup offers rapid acceleration and plenty of power at any speed. But is that enough to beat one of the finest sports cars of the recent past? In a new Carwow video published just earlier today, the EV6 meets a Ferrari F355 in a direct drag race. At a glance, this may seem like a very unmatched competition but the truth is the two cars are almost perfectly matched. You might think the winner is clear here but that’s not the case. Gallery: 2022 Kia EV6: First Drive Review 65 Photos Let’s see the numbers. In this specification, the EV6 relies on two electric motors, one for each axle, with a combined peak output of 325 horsepower (239 kilowatts) and 446 pound-feet (605 … [Read more...] about Kia EV6 Meets Ferrari F355 In A Rather Unusual Drag Race

Daniel Snyder conducted ‘shadow investigation’ of accusers, panel finds
WASHINGTON - Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder and members of his legal team conducted a "shadow investigation" and compiled a "dossier" targeting former team employees, their attorneys and journalists in an attempt to discredit his accusers and shift blame following allegations of widespread misconduct in the team's workplace, according to the findings of the investigation conducted by the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. Moreover, Snyder hired private investigators and lawyers to unearth inappropriate emails and evidence aimed at convincing the NFL and Beth Wilkinson, who was conducting a league-sponsored investigation into sexual harassment in the organization, that Snyder's longtime team president Bruce Allen was primarily responsible for any workplace issues. The preliminary findings were detailed in a 29-page memo from Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., the committee's chairwoman, to fellow committee members ahead of Wednesday's Capitol Hill hearing on the … [Read more...] about Daniel Snyder conducted ‘shadow investigation’ of accusers, panel finds
Faulty Battery Cells, Modules Likely Caused e-Scooter Fire In India, Initial Probe Finds
Faulty battery cells and modules have been identified as the leading cause of electric scooters catching fire in India in recent weeks, according to the findings of an initial federal investigation, two government sources told Reuters. The probe looked into fire incidents involving three companies, including Ola Electric, which is backed by Japan's SoftBank Group, and was the country's top-selling e-scooter maker in April. "In Ola's case, the battery cells were found to be an issue as well as the battery management system," said one of the sources, who has direct knowledge of the report. In March, India launched an investigation over safety concerns after a spate of e-scooter fires, including one where a man and his daughter died when their e-bike "went up in flames". India wants e-scooters and e-bikes to make up 80% of total two-wheeler sales by 2030, from about 2% today. But concerns over safety jeopardise consumer confidence and could derail growth of a sector that is key to … [Read more...] about Faulty Battery Cells, Modules Likely Caused e-Scooter Fire In India, Initial Probe Finds
This XK120 SE By Pininfarina Might Be The Rarest Jaguar Ever
Listen to this article Rare Jaguar vehicles come in may forms – the XJ220 , the XJR-15 , and the XKSS, just to name a few. But none of the aforementioned are as rare as the Jag pictured here. A one-off XK120 by Pininfarina, the restored classic made its debut at Pebble Beach after 6,275 hours of restoration by specialist at Classic Motor Cars (CMC). With unique bodywork by famed coachbuilder Pininfarina, the Jaguar was delivered new to Max Hoffman in 1954, an Austrian-born, New York-based exotic vehicle importer. The car later made its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 1955, and again later in the year at the Autocar Show. In 2015, the car was purchased by CMC, who set about restoring it to its former glory. The 6,275-hour nut-and-bolt restoration faced numerous hurdles, including the challenge of finding the original paint color, and having to remake the bumpers and rear windshield. "Some of the original parts were impossible to find so we had to … [Read more...] about This XK120 SE By Pininfarina Might Be The Rarest Jaguar Ever
“Seamless” first test for T8 Bathurst wildcard
Listen to this article Lowndes has been paired up with young gun Declan Fraser in the Supercheap Auto-backed Holden which will run as a third T8 entry at the 2022 Great Race . The pair got their first taste of the car at Queensland Raceway today as part of the first of three pre-Bathurst test days. Much of the focus was on ergonomics between Lowndes and Fraser, as well as acclimatising Fraser to the additional aero the ZB-spec Commodore has compared to his Super2 car. According to Lowndes it was a seamless start to the wildcard programme. "We've obviously worked really closely with Declan outside of the car at race meetings, but to finally get an opportunity to share the car with him, to hear how he reads the car and how he feels the car is very similar to the way I do, that's a big positive," said Lowndes. "Knowing that when we go to Bathurst, we'll be able to improve the car for each other which is invaluable. "The ergonomics have suited us well, and the car … [Read more...] about “Seamless” first test for T8 Bathurst wildcard
The radical steering innovation being refined in motorsport
It doesn’t take an engineer to recognise that racing cars have changed a great deal since the dawn of automobile racing. In regard to safety, modern cars are virtually unrecognisable. But many core tenets of those very earliest racers have remained the same, even as the rise of electrification and the push towards automation has brought increased complexity. Until recently, steering systems could be counted among those elements. A mechanical connection between the wheels directly manipulated by driver inputs had been a design prerequisite since day dot. But German company Schaeffler-Paravan changed all that with its steer-by-wire system, which does away with the need for a steering column or any mechanical connection to the steering. It instead transmits steering commands digitally utilising sensors and cable, working in a fashion akin to a driving simulator, and is now being used in competition in the DTM, the national-level GTC Race series and Germany’s national rally … [Read more...] about The radical steering innovation being refined in motorsport
Musk Says $44 Billion Twitter Deal On Hold Over Fake Account Data
Elon Musk tweeted on Friday that his $44-billion cash deal for Twitter Inc was "temporarily on hold" while he waits for the social media company to provide data on the proportion of its fake accounts. Twitter shares initially fell more than 20% in premarket trading, but after Musk, the chief executive of electric car market Tesla Inc, sent a second tweet saying he remained committed to the deal, they regained some ground. The shares were down 9.6% to $40.71 in trading on Friday, a steep discount to the $54.20 per share acquisition price. Musk, the world's richest person, decided to waive due diligence when he agreed to buy Twitter on April 25, in an effort to get the San Francisco-based company to accept his "best and final offer." This could make it harder for him to argue that Twitter somehow misled him. Since Musk inked his deal to acquire Twitter, technology stocks have plunged amid investor concerns over inflation and a potential economic slowdown. The spread between the … [Read more...] about Musk Says $44 Billion Twitter Deal On Hold Over Fake Account Data

The Covid-19 pandemic completely changed how we handle business, particularly where corporate relocations are concerned. We've seen how digitalization has challenged the idea of locality reigning supreme, and we've seen how well some businesses can operate without physical offices. This means that companies need to reassess how they handle relocation, expansion and recruitment. Here are three things businesses must consider in this new world of remote and hybrid work.
