WASHINGTON - The Washington Nationals' final home game of the 2022 season looked a lot like their first one - a dreary, rainy day with Patrick Corbin on the mound. When Corbin pitched Opening Day, the Nationals hoped he could rediscover the version they signed to a six-year, $140 million contract in December 2018. By the time he left the mound Sunday afternoon, after 4 2/3 innings, a few fans in the upper deck who stayed through the weather booed him in another lost season. Corbin slogged through Sunday's 8-1 loss against the Philadelphia Phillies, allowing seven runs on 10 hits to move his ERA up to 6.31. The game lasted six innings before it was called with conditions getting worse. "The cleats were just kind of filling up a little bit and just felt really rotational today," Corbin said. "But just tough on both sides, but it is what it is." Washington earned its 104th loss - the most since the team moved to D.C. - and finished a dismal 26-55 at home this year. And Corbin … [Read more...] about Nationals’ home schedule ends with another clunker from Patrick Corbin

Listen to this article Rinaldi’s place at Ducati had appeared to be in doubt for some time, with ex-MotoGP rider Danilo Petrucci emerging as a leading candidate to replace him on the back of his title assault in MotoAmerica. The championship is due to be decided at Alabama this weekend and Eurosport had reported that Petrucci has a clause in his contract that guarantees him a factory WSBK seat should he go on to win the title. There was also pressure within Ducati’s WSBK camp, with Axel Bassani continuing to impress aboard the Motocorsa satellite bike and making a strong case for a graduation to the works team. However, Ducati has decided to place its faith in Italian rider Rinaldi, handing him a one-year contract for the 2023 season. He will again team up with current championship leader Alvaro Bautista, who rejoined Ducati at the beginning of 2022 on a multi-year contract. The F1 2023 schedule is filling out even further, with the Bahrain International Circuit confirming it will host three days of pre-season testing next February. Sakhir will host all 10 teams from 23-25 February next year as they get to grips with their new machinery, having also hosted pre-season testing in 2021 and 2022. Bahrain has also played host to in-season testing from the teams in recent seasons, with the track becoming an increasingly regular proving ground for Formula 1 cars. The three days of running will take a similar format to the pre-season schedule as seen in 2022, with the test taking place a week before the season gets underway in earnest at the same circuit. The full 2023 calendar has already been confirmed by the FIA, and the news of Bahrain’s pre-season test comes hot on the heels of the governing body announcing that the number of Sprint weekends will double from three to six as of next season , citing the popularity of them as their reasoning for … [Read more...] about F1 2023 schedule continues to take shape with testing dates revealed
Listen to this article A combination of lower costs, particularly when compared to the LMP1 era of the FIA World Endurance Championship, and the chance to race the same car in two major series have proven key factors in luring manufacturers back to the top class of the WEC (simply known now as 'Hypercar') and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (where the equivalent class is called 'GTP'). Before we proceed to the list of marques, it's worth reiterating the differences between LMDh and LMH regulations. LMDh is essentially a successor to the successful DPi platform IMSA introduced in 2017. As was the case previously, manufacturers must base their new designs upon a next-generation LMP2 chassis, of which there are four licensed constructors: Oreca, Dallara, Ligier and Multimatic. Engine choice remains free within the scope of regulations, but all cars must now be fitted with a spec hybrid system built jointly by Bosch (inverter), Williams Advanced Engineering … [Read more...] about Who will race in WEC and IMSA with LMDh/LMH cars in 2023?
