It's not just a rumor - it's officially official. Until now it was believed Mercedes-Benz’s first pickup truck in history could be offered in the United States , but official information from… well - Renault, confirms the Nissan Navara-based model won’t make it stateside. The French manufacturer released a press release detailing the cooperation between Daimler and Renault-Nissan Alliance. The company announced the partnership “is maturing as it enters its seventh year in 2016.” But what’s more interesting, Renault says the new one-top pickup of Mercedes will be designed by Daimler “to meet the specific needs of its customers in Europe, Australia, South Africa and Latin America," without a single word about the North American market. We already know it won’t be a “fat cowboy truck,” but a “real Mercedes” and a "truly premium" product. The new pickup will be manufactured at Renault’s plant in Cordoba, Argentina, and at Nissan’s Barcelona plant in Spain, where … [Read more...] about Mercedes pickup will not be sold in North America
There are all manner of variables unknown to anyone but the teams themselves, and that can throw a real spanner in the works of even the most educated of guesses. Nonetheless, speculation on who sits where in the pecking order is always fascinating, and none more so this year that what is really up with Mercedes and its W12. As seven-time champion, it was always going to be the team thrust into the spotlight during the pre-season test, as it has the furthest to fall if anything goes wrong. It is also the team that has the most to lose by any rule change, of which it has had a few thrown at it in recent years. There's a 2.0 Mazda-sourced engine under the hood. Hurtan is a Granada-based small-scale automaker, focused on building retro-looking vehicles with modern technologies. About two months ago, the Spanish company unveiled its Grand Albaycin roadster based on the Mazda MX-5 , and now there’s a new version of that car. Just like Mazda has a hardtop version of the two-seater, Hurtan is launching the Grand Albaycin Bespoke based on the MX-5 Miata RF. Logically, this means the soft-top mechanism is replaced by an automatic hardtop roof, which can be finished in a different color compared to the rest of the body for a two-tone paint scheme. Gallery: Hurtan Grand Albaycín Bespoke 5 Photos Other than the hardtop, the sports car looks identical to the model introduced in January. One major difference though is the lack of the entry-level 1.5-liter engine. The Miata RF-based roadster will be … [Read more...] about Hurtan Grand Albaycín Bespoke Is A Miata RF With Euro Influences
It's joined on stage by the mildly updated sedan. [UPDATE, March 6] Live images from the Geneva Motor Show have been added at the beginning of the gallery, below. You will probably need a magnifying glass to spot the changes Mazda has done to its European-spec Mazda6 Touring, but why mess with perfection? The midsize premium wagon is hands down one of the most beautiful models in it segment that money can buy, so it makes perfect sense the Zoom-Zoom company has not messed around with the winning recipe. Originally introduced as a sedan at the Los Angeles Auto Show last November, the mid-cycle refresh for the firm’s flagship model will be travelling to the Geneva Motor Show for its European debut in both sedan and wagon flavors. Beyond the styling tweaks seen on its North American cousin, the refreshed Mazda6 for Europe will also benefit from reduced noise, vibration, and harshness levels to provide a more refined interior cabin. Not only that, but aerodynamic … [Read more...] about 2018 Mazda6 Euro Spec Live From Geneva Motor Show
The Mexican has replaced Alex Albon as Max Verstappen’s teammate this year, with Red Bull targeting a proper fight against Mercedes for the first time in the hybrid era. And although Perez has only worked with his new squad for a few months, he has already noticed some key traits that have impressed him. “The team is full of racers you know,” said Perez, who arrived at Red Bull after a seven-year spell at Racing Point. “Everyone is just a racer in the team. It is a very good atmosphere. It's all about winning, you know: the mentality, and the focus, it's very different. Straight away you can notice that. “They do everything to the limit, whether it's pitstops, whether it's a meeting, or whether it's related to performance. They just go flat out and that's something very impressive. “Of course there are areas that I was not used to, areas that I see that they can be improved as well. So it's all about growing together, and having an impact into the team as well.” … [Read more...] about Perez: Red Bull F1 team’s “flat out” attitude a standout feature
