Paddon and Kennard fighting fit for WRC start in Sweden
Kiwi rally drivers Hayden Paddon and John Kennard are reaping the benefits of plenty of hard work during the off-season and return, lean and keen, to the 2015 FIA World Rally Championship with this week’s Rally Sweden. Paddon and Kennard, New Zealand’s most successful combination in world rallying, return to Hyundai Motorsport for a 12 event programme in 2015. This season Paddon takes a new role with the team as the lead driver in the recently-announced Hyundai Mobis World Rally Team, which runs in parallel to the two-car Hyundai Shell World Rally Team with drivers Thierry Neuville and Dani Sordo. However due to Sordo’s recent training injury, Paddon and Kennard step into the #8 Hyundai i20 WRC car normally run by Sordo and co-driver Marc Marti for the Swedish rally, while Paddon’s #20 car will be driven by team’s test driver Kevin Abbring and co-driver Sebastian Marshall now making their debut for the Hyundai Mobis World Rally Team. Regarding the sudden change in team … [Read more...] about Paddon and Kennard fighting fit for WRC start in Sweden
Courtney expected to ‘step up’ in second Tickford season
The Boost Mobile boss has been a long-time backer of Courtney, but upped his support of the 2010 champion during a difficult 2020 campaign. That included the short-lived Team Sydney adventure , as well as the lifeline deal mid-way through the season to grab the fourth seat at Tickford Racing . Despite not testing the Tickford Mustang once before his first race, and effectively learning on the fly across the remainder of the season, Courtney was able to bank 12 Top 10 finishes, including a second at Hidden Valley. While impressive given the circumstances, Adderton is expecting more this time around given Courtney will have a full pre-season under his belt. "We really didn't have a lot of chance to prepare [in 2020]," Adderton said. "I think JC's got a better chance this year. He knows the car. His first test day [last year] was a race, which is always hard. "You want to test the car and get to learn it, but he built up speed. "But it's a big year, and … [Read more...] about Courtney expected to ‘step up’ in second Tickford season
Ford CEO Tweets He Wishes Puma ST Was Offered In US
It’d bring some sportiness to the brand’s crossover-heavy lineup. Ford’s shift from sedans and hatchbacks to crossovers, SUVs, and trucks saw the automaker introduce several new models to fill out its lineup. The Ranger returned while the bite-sized EcoSport came to America to serve as the brand’s entry-level offering. It initially debuted in 2013 and received a substantial update for its US arrival in 2018; however, the automaker could add another compact crossover to its lineup that’s a bit more exciting. Ford CEO Jim Farley retweeted yesterday a 15-second ad for the new 2021 Ford Puma ST from the Ford UK account and wrote with it, “Wish this came to NA [North America] and other markets!” Maybe he can talk the person in charge into changing that at the next executive meeting. Joking aside, Farley is on the record saying that he’d like to see the brand offer more affordable vehicles – a space once served by its sedans and hatchbacks – though Ford emphasized its focus on … [Read more...] about Ford CEO Tweets He Wishes Puma ST Was Offered In US
