Breaking News PROBLEM: NHL player REALLY wants to give a puck to an adorable little girl fan, but two little boys kept stealing the puck away. SOLUTION: Well, you're just gonna have to watch ... it's the most adorable thing you're gonna see ALL DAY! It all went down during warm-ups at Sunday's Washington Capitals vs. Columbus Blue Jackets playoff game in D.C. where right wing Brett Connolly wanted to hook the little one up with a souvenir. Problem was, there were a couple bigger kids flankin' her ... and they crushed her dreams TWICE when Brett flipped a puck over the glass. It was basically the saddest thing ever ... until the girl finally got puck #3 and lit up like the Nintendo 64 kid on Christmas (OK, maybe not that intense). Hockey fan 4 life, right?? … [Read more...] about NHL’s Brett Connolly Gives Puck to Little Girl In Best Video Ever

Goal! NHL’s Blue Jackets Score ‘Lexus Lounge’
As with most sports-team franchises, venues or leagues, sponsors play a crucial role to make the venture viable. Whether it’s through apparel, licensing or “adopting” a stadium, sponsors look to take a piece of the pie sporting events create. In this case, Lexus is doing more than just renewing its sponsorship deal that began in 2008. According to the NHL, they will actually expand it. The Blue Jacket’s Nationwide Arena is already known for its state-of-the-art facilities, which will be getting an upgrade. Fans will now have access to the newly established “Lexus Lounge.” The high-end dining space is located on an exclusive level of the arena. The lounge will offer attendees a premium chef’s table buffet and private bar. Furthermore, the luxurious facilities will be available before, during and after the game. “Entitlement to this exclusive lounge offers a unique platform to showcase the Lexus brand and its line … [Read more...] about Goal! Nissan, Chrysler announce partnerships with NHL hockey teams
Canada, so are automakers as two such companies have announced deals with National Hockey League teams in the cities near their headquarters.First on the starting lineup is Nissan, whose Tennessee-based American division has signed a new deal with the Nashville Predators that, while not extending to naming rights (as Mercedes-Benz recently secured in New Orleans) of the Bridgestone Arena where they play, does see including the naming of the Nissan Atrium therein and places Nissan as the team's official car. Well, sorta: the technical wording is "exclusive non-luxury import automotive partner" of both the team and the arena, leaving the door open to domestic and premium competitors.Chrysler has similarly announced the renewal of its partnership with the Detroit Red Wings, with increased signage at Joe Louis Arena and placing Ram as the team's official truck. Both deals will be leveraged into promotional campaigns, and you can read about 'em in the pair of press releases after the jump. … [Read more...] about Nissan, Chrysler announce partnerships with NHL hockey teams
Bark’s Bites: Turn, Turn, Turn
“The internet has ruined the car business.”“I’m not interested in a race to the bottom.”“There’s an ass for every seat.”Yes, my friends, in the year 2017, dealership general managers still say these sentences. What’s worse is that they’re not even being ironic. And in this era of record-setting car sales (yes, despite what you’ve heard, 2017 is going to be the fourth-best sales year in history), some of them are even able to keep their jobs. But smart dealers know better. They know that the internet is their friend, that being the cheapest sometimes really is the best strategy, and that no, there most definitely is not an ass for that 2013 Malibu that’s priced at 117 percent of the market average. Why are they so smart? Because they understand a seemingly simple concept that can get quite complicated when dealers try to execute it. That concept? It’s called “turn.”What’s turn? It’s … [Read more...] about Bark’s Bites: Turn, Turn, Turn
BMW Is Making Fun Of The Toyota Camry With A Used 3 Series Sedan
Call them frenemies. BMW and Toyota are working together on a high-profile sports car project that will result in a long-awaited Supra successor and a replacement for the Z4. Two heads are better than one.“The concept works, the platform can deliver and now we have two proud sets of engineers — one group German, one group Japanese — who are each fighting and arguing for the car they want,” BMW sales boss Ian Robertson said last year. The fighting and arguing extends beyond the R&D facilities in Munich and Toyota City.On a mission to exalt its 3 Series in a certified pre-owned commercial, BMW sought to make fun of a typically bland midsize sedan. 2001 Chevrolet Malibu? 2006 Kia Optima? 2017 Subaru Legacy? No. BMW chose the most basic, beige, new Toyota Camry to make a point on behalf of a bright red pre-owned 3 Series.Hardly the work of a BFF.Like any good Canadian, I was sitting down with some pop and chips for some NHL playoffs action when, apparently, a … [Read more...] about BMW Is Making Fun Of The Toyota Camry With A Used 3 Series Sedan
QOTD: Do You Even Wrench, Bro?
Early last week, I brought the Charger into our local dealer to sort out a passel of recalls, not the least of which was a computer reflash to bestow Auto Park capabilities on my ZF-equipped Dodge. This new programming, it must be noted, not only added the Auto Park feature (which actually works so seamlessly it beggars belief that Dodge engineers didn’t include it from the get-go to save themselves a world of bad PR) but also changed the font in the dashboard EVIC. I now look upon my digital speed readout with a level of disdain formerly reserved for soiled copies of the National Enquirer. Comic Sans would’ve been a better option.Anyway, the car was also due for an oil change, so I scheduled that service for the same visit. Arriving at the desk, the mental fog cleared long enough to bestow upon me the presence of mind to inquire the cost of a dealer oil change for my Pentastar-equipped Charger.“Uhhhh … justamomentlemmelook.”Pokes at … [Read more...] about QOTD: Do You Even Wrench, Bro?

Hyundai New Official Sponsor Of NFL, Official Truck Title Open To Others
Are you ready for some football? Along with some bulgogi and a pack of Hite? Hyundai is, as it is the new official automotive sponsor of the NFL.According to ESPN, Hyundai will pay $50 million per year for the honor of taking up where General Motors will leave off beginning this season, The Detroit News reports. However, the deal only covers cars; the NFL can still award an “Official Truck of the NFL” to a sponsor of its choosing, so long as it doesn’t compete with Hyundai. The automaker’s official titles include car, SUV and luxury vehicle of the NFL.Though GM no longer is the official sponsor — it cancelled its $25 million/year agreement with the league earlier this year, bringing an end to a relationship begun in 2001 — truck brand GMC will still have a presence on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football.”Hyundai’s sponsorship of the NFL joins other automakers and brands in the game, including Kia’s relationship with the NBA, … [Read more...] about Hyundai New Official Sponsor Of NFL, Official Truck Title Open To Others
