So far the team has only shown him acting in a promotional capacity, including recently driving a Red Bull RB7 around Australia. But when he is trackside he will serve the same function as Liam Lawson and Dennis Hauger, the two Red Bull juniors sharing the reserve driver role and doing simulator work at the team’s F1 base in Milton Keynes, in that he will be ready to race should Max Verstappen or Sergio Perez be unable to. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said Ricciardo will attend several races this year as reserve, and “probably do a bit of tyre testing” in the current RB19 car as well as simulator work. But his main duties, due to Ricciardo now being based in the USA, will be … [Read more...] about Sabbatical or retirement? Ricciardo returns to F1 paddock – and questions over his future · RaceFans

2024 Ram 1200 Spied With Less Camouflage, Dual Exhaust Tips
We've been spying on the Ram 1200 for quite a while, but this is our best look yet as the bulky camouflage is finally gone. However, the small-ish pickup is still fully disguised and looks like an extra-long SUV because of the truck topper to conceal the bed. Compared to previous prototypes, it has lost the Jeep-like round headlights and the Fiat Toro-sourced taillights in favor of what we can only presume are the final light assemblies. Known internally by its "Project 291" codename, the new workhorse is expected to revive the "1200" moniker used for a rebadged Fiat Fullback / Mitsubishi Triton between 2016 and 2019. It'll slot above the Ram 1000 / Fiat Toro and should ride on the Small Wide 4×4 architecture adapted from the Compass, Commander, and other Stellantis products. 2024 Ram 1200 spy photos 6 Photos The prototype appears to be a smidge bigger than a Fiat Toro, so … [Read more...] about 2024 Ram 1200 Spied With Less Camouflage, Dual Exhaust Tips
Fox lawsuit highlights effects of conspiracies on Dominion

Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 6 PHOENIX (AP) — In Arizona’s most populous county, elected officials are bracing for what could happen when it comes time to replace its $2 million-a-year contract for voting equipment. Officials in Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix, say they have no concerns about their current vendor, Dominion Voting Systems. The problem is that the company has been ensnared in a web of conspiracy theories since the 2020 presidential election that have undermined public confidence in U.S. elections among conservative voters, led to calls to ban voting machines in some places and triggered death threats against election officials across the country. “I have concerns over my own personal security if we re-enlist Dominion,” Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer, a Republican elected in 2020, said in a court filing. “It went from a company that nobody had heard about to a … [Read more...] about Fox lawsuit highlights effects of conspiracies on Dominion

F1 grid box tweaks will not eradicate problems, says Alonso
Listen to this article In the wake of penalties given out to Alonso and Alpine's Esteban Ocon in the opening two races of the season for starting outside their markers, the FIA has widened the grid boxes in Melbourne. But despite an extra 20cm of space, plus the trial of a new guidance line to help drivers line up, Alonso is sceptical of them being enough to assist with the difficulties being faced. In particular, he says that drivers face the double whammy of seeing very little as they line up in position while also having to be totally focused on a separate yellow line that they cannot start in front of. "It is difficult and we are very concentrated on the yellow line to not go too far forward," he said. "So, you approach not looking at the box, you are looking on one side of the cockpit. So maybe that's a bit of a distraction." Asked if the new dimension and sighting line would be a help, Alonso said: "The central line? I don't think so. "Because, as I … [Read more...] about F1 grid box tweaks will not eradicate problems, says Alonso
Lewis Hamilton told not to make Fernando Alonso-style ‘knee-jerk’ team swap
Former F1 driver Anthony Davidson has urged Lewis Hamilton not to make a rash decision over his future with Mercedes. Hamilton is out of contract with the Mercedes team at the end of F1 2023, and while in the build-up to the season it seemed almost a matter of time before Hamilton signed fresh terms, now the situation is not so clear. The 2022 campaign was a story of recovery for Mercedes as they battled back from a poor start to the new regulatory era, but rather than taking that next step into F1 2023 and returning to the conversation for wins, the team has instead slipped all the way back to scrapping for a podium spot. They have not achieved that honour yet two rounds into the campaign, with P4 for George Russell the team’s best result so far. And Mercedes have written off the unique concept for their W14 already, while Hamilton has been critical of the team, as he believes they did not listen to his feedback on last season’s issue when creating this new challenger. … [Read more...] about Lewis Hamilton told not to make Fernando Alonso-style ‘knee-jerk’ team swap
Fernando Alonso still expresses doubts over pit boxes even with recent tweaks
Fernando Alonso doubts putting up a central line on the grid boxes will help the drivers avoid penalties given they’re looking sideways at the yellow line to avoid being too far ahead. This year’s championship began with back-to-back penalties for Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso, both of whom were deemed to be outside their grid boxes when they lined up in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia respectively. For Ocon, his front right wheel wasn’t within the defined lines while Alonso was too far to the left. They were handed five-second penalties for being out of position. With drivers fearing more penalties to follow, the FIA has taken action in Melbourne by increasing the width of the grid box by 20cm with a new central line painted onto each box to give the driver an additional guideline. Alonso, though, doesn’t believe that will help. “The central line? I don’t think so,” he said during the drivers’ media session at the Albert Park circuit. “You approach the box looking sideways, … [Read more...] about Fernando Alonso still expresses doubts over pit boxes even with recent tweaks
