The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was something of an oddity in today’s automotive landscape, being a ridiculously powered, yet relatively affordable, coupe in a world choke full of SUVs. FCA might have discontinued the Demon, but nevertheless it has made quite a name of itself by beating almost everything on four wheels that came its way. And while some of its rivals have better sound systems of smartphone integration as optional extras, the Dodge Demon has something called the ‘Demon Crate‘. It adds drag radials, a hydraulic floor jack, torque wrench, fender cover and certain other goodies. This translates into a startling 2.3sec for the 0-60mph (0-96km/h) run, and 9.65 seconds to complete the quarter mile, at least according to Dodge. BARELY two years after their first EP American Wives received a positive report here in your Noise Annoys – "Five tracks of catchy strum and jangle!", "Invigorating pop-punkish energy and urgency!", "A whimsical, heart-achey vibe that perfectly captures the bittersweet sting of teenage romance gone bad!", – Castlerock indie popsters Brand New Friend are about to release their debut album Seatbelts For Aeroplanes for new paymasters Xtra Mile Recordings. While I can't take all the credit for their rapid rise to current 'great white hope' status – surely at least some of that is down to the sharp songwriting skills of brother/sister band-founders Taylor and Lauren Johnson combined with the kind of beaming, boundless self-confidence guaranteed to cause jaded Generation X-ers to shake their wizened head in bemused envy – it's sure pleasing to note that the record's title track also got the Noise Annoys seal of approval when it first appeared on their Bandcamp page in … [Read more...] about Noise Annoys: Brand New Friend, Wood Burning Savages, Ferals & Jinx Lennon
Well, this is interesting – alongside the Mercedes-AMG C 43 and GLC 43 seen yesterday, the W222 Mercedes-Benz S 450 was also listed on the official Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) website before being taken down. The S 450 variant was only introduced on the facelifted S-Class, hinting that the updated luxury sedan will finally be launched here soon – right within the timeframe MBM promised last year. Listed as a locally-assembled (CKD) model, the S 450 will be priced at RM699,888 on-the-road without insurance, making it around RM100,000 more expensive than the S 400 h. That one comes with duty exemptions owing to it being a hybrid that accounts for the price difference, although it should be pointed out that the S 450 is also a more powerful car. That’s because the latter comes with Mercedes’ new 3.0 litre turbocharged petrol straight-six, plus a 48-volt integral starter/alternator that provides a 21 hp/250 Nm electric boost when needed – effectively turning … [Read more...] about W222 Mercedes-Benz S450 CKD listed on official website, priced at RM699,888 – facelift soon?
The refreshed 2018 Proton Preve has quietly appeared on Proton’s official website, as spotted by reader Dylan Ch’ng. Available in just two variants, the new Preve will be priced at RM64,730 for the 1.6 Executive CVT and RM72,510 for the 1.6 Premium CVT – increases of RM4,120 and RM1,193 respectively. All prices are on-the-road without insurance, inclusive of a five-year/150,000 km warranty. Both models will be powered by a 1.6 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine making 138 hp at 5,000 rpm and 205 Nm from 2,000 to 4,000 rpm, paired to a CVT with a simulated seven-speed mode. Unfortunately for those of you who’d like to row your own gears, the naturally-aspirated manual variant has been dropped for the new model year. According to an internal presentation that was leaked earlier in the year, the … [Read more...] about 2018 Proton Preve appears on official website – 1.6 Executive and Premium variants, RM65k-RM73k
Volvo for life. That’s not the title of the video above, which is actually “Designed for Generations”, but it might as well be. It’s a heart-warming video on how Volvo has been part of a family, for generations. I may not be a diehard, but I kind of understand why fans of the brand have such deep affection for the Swedish carmaker. The appeal of the brand is now wider too, thanks to the handsome design and classy cabins of its latest products. That good looking range is set to welcome a new member in the next-generation V60. The 2019 Volvo V60, a more compact sibling to the current V90 wagon, is the reason of the video. “Inspired by our heritage, we’re excited to introduce a classic to a new generation. Our cars have been enjoyed, shared and held fondly in the memories of drivers and passengers for decades. In creating the new Volvo V60, we’re continuing a legacy of estates and moments for a new generation to remember. The new Volvo V60 is … [Read more...] about Volvo teases new V60 wagon with heart-warming video
