RacingLines: What is and isn’t behind F1’s share price moves – RaceFans

November 21, 2018 by www.racefans.net Leave a Comment

Last month we outlined how precariously Formula 1’s fortunes hinge upon its share price , in turn driven by factors surrounding the sport and the subsequent opinions of investment analysts. Yet, many of these have seldom – if ever – seen a grand prix live or on TV, and base their (critical) analyses on developments that profoundly affect stock value. Advert | Become a Supporter & go ad-free In a nutshell, uncertainty immediately knocks the price; positive, hard news gradually boosts it. At the time we flagged two dates: November 8th, on which F1’s commercial rights holder Liberty Media would field investor calls on Q3 earnings; and November 14th, Liberty Media’s Annual Investor Day, at which the results and prospects of group entities are presented to shareholders. F1 in particular seemed to leave the investment community distinctly lukewarm. During the investor call F1’s share prices – A Class FWONA and C Class FWONK – dipped. Steeper falls followed the call’s … [Read more...] about RacingLines: What is and isn’t behind F1’s share price moves – RaceFans

Fernando Alonso fails to see logic behind Red Bull/Mercedes copycat claims

March 21, 2023 by www.planetf1.com Leave a Comment

With both Red Bull and Mercedes taking partial credit for the Aston Martin AMR23, Fernando Alonso cannot see where either team is coming from. Aston Martin have been the surprise package at the start of F1 2023, jumping from being the P7 finisher in last season’s Constructors’ Championship to now having the second-fastest race car behind Red Bull. Alonso has joined the Red Bull duo of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez on the first two podiums of the season in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, P3 finishes for Alonso on both occasions. And it was after the Bahrain GP when Red Bull started pilling in with the banter about that AMR23, claiming its design bares great similarity to their double title-winning RB18 of last season. “They say imitation is the biggest form of flattery, and it’s good to see the old car going so well,” said Red Bull team boss Christian Horner, while Bahrain’s P2 finisher Perez would joke “we are all Red Bull drivers” when he, Verstappen and Alonso faced the media … [Read more...] about Fernando Alonso fails to see logic behind Red Bull/Mercedes copycat claims

Fred Vasseur urges Ferrari to not ‘bullsh*t itself’ over Saudi GP failures

March 21, 2023 by www.planetf1.com Leave a Comment

Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has called for honest conversations back at Maranello as the Scuderia look at their errors in Jeddah. Charles Leclerc headed into the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend with a 10-place grid penalty already confirmed, with the Ferrari driver forced to take a third Control Electronics unit on his SF-23 in only the second race of the season. But despite having qualified only a tenth shy of the pole time set by Sergio Perez on Saturday, Leclerc was only able to recover to seventh come the race on Sunday, with Ferrari team-mate Carlos Sainz in sixth come the chequered flag. Ferrari had hoped to enter the weekend and close some of the performance gap after the dominance of Red Bull in Bahrain, but appeared to fall further away from the front as Mercedes and Aston Martin showed better race pace in Saudi Arabia – Sainz admitting afterwards that the Scuderia had the fourth-fastest car at the weekend. So when it comes to taking their next steps, the … [Read more...] about Fred Vasseur urges Ferrari to not ‘bullsh*t itself’ over Saudi GP failures
