Here’s a new variant that purists will celebrate. The new Porsche 911 Carrera T sees the carmaker revive the concept behind the 911 T of 1968 – measures include less weight, shorter transmission ratios from the seven-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive with mechanical rear differential lock; the latter for “enhanced performance and intense driving pleasure”. Sounds good already, doesn’t it? Here’s more. Based on the 911 Carrera and producing 370 hp/450 Nm, the 911 Carrera T (for Touring) also boasts some equipment not available for the standard Carrera. It has the PASM sports chassis as standard, lowered by 20 mm, the weight-optimised Sport Chrono Package, a shortened shift lever with red shift pattern and Sport-Tex seat centres. On the outside, you will find a special Emerald Green finish, new 20-inch alloy wheels, revised front and rear spoilers, side skirts, a new black hood a rear wing. TechArt also offers a special system able to lift up the front end in order to get more easily over speed bumps. Entering the cockpit, you will find a three-spoke steering wheel, new seats with black and green inserts, special stitching, revised instrument cluster, leather upholstery and Alcantara. There wasn’t one, but a real armada of Porsches being put to some harsh tests at the Artic Circle. We are talking about prototypes of the future Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet, standard 911 Carrera or the state of the art 911 Turbo. We could only get the 911 Carrera Cabriolet in the spy shots, the mid-range supercar that would be debuting at the end of the year. The car comes with some fine touches. At the front, we are talking about a new bumper with fresh air intakes, along with updated daytime running lights, with a possibility of a revised active grille for a better fuel-efficiency.
